    Leading Edge Rated Device Identification Safehold produce a range of RTFA’s which are known as Leading Edge (LE) RTFA’s. Leading Edge devices are tested in accordance with CNB/P/11.060 and are identified by several ways as described below. It is important not to mix LE and NON-LE components.

  • Page 5 WI-010-008-0011 Rev 02 Strip down Service To service a block the Covers should be removed, the devices inspected internally for any signs of damage, wear, or contamination. The Brake marker should be verified for alignment, if Brake has not moved, NO action required. If the Brake marker has moved, then the Drum centre nut should be re- torqued to the value shown in Section 8.
  • Page 6 WI-010-008-0011 Rev 02 2. If repair is deemed necessary then the device must be disassembled. Note: Ensure handle is on the Right, with heads of screws facing up. 3. Remove Front Housing and Swivel, you may need to prise housing apart. Note: Make Sure that Spring is safe and secure.
  • Page 7 WI-010-008-0011 Rev 02 5. Now the Drum has been removed safely, remove the Pawls and Pawl springs, and check if the Pawl spring is deformed 6. Unwind all the cable off the drum using bench mounted rollers or equivalent, check for damage again whilst unwinding.
  • Page 8 WI-010-008-0011 Rev 02 8. The Brake marker should be verified for alignment, if Brake has NOT moved, NO action is required. If moved, then re-torque the centre nut to 88Nm and re-align or add a new line for inspection alignment. Examples of the Brake markers below: These could be from factory or a previous service.

Once fully disassembled, ensure all components are wiped and blown clean of any dirt, grime, water, cement, and grit ingress using a vaporising cleaner. 11. Install wire rope set on Drum as per image. If wire rope set shows damage/wear it must be replaced. Install the Retaining pin as shown.

Re-install the Spring into Housing (if removed) grease the Spring Plate and place Drum back, being careful to line up the shaft with the Spring tab. Locate Spring into Rear Housing Apply grease to inside face of Spring Plate prior to fitting to Drum...

  • Page 12 WI-010-008-0011 Rev 02 16. Locate Top Housing and re-install Housing screws and torque to 6Nm Post Service Checks 1. Check top anchor point swivel, ensure free movement. 2. Pull the full length of cable out. 3. Allow to slowly retract – Do not allow cable to slide through fingers/hands or retract in an uncontrolled manner.
