CE mark A number of changes have been made to the M410 and M805 to enable them to comply with the electrical and safety requirements for the CE mark to be applied. In summary the major changes are:- M410 Compressor socket on back panel removed.
7200 The rocker switch that switches the AC power supply on (0) and off (0). When the M410 is switched on, the ‘power on’ LED is illuminated, the air compressor (connected to the rear panel) is switched on and an ignition cycle is initiated.

Sherwood Scientific Limited Controls and Services Front Panel Controls and Indicators Continued M805 Dilutor Diluent Tube Tension Arm The diluent tube tension arm pulls the diluent tube around the pump rotor. Diluent is pumped by the peristaltic action of the rollers passing in succession over the pump tube.

2 inch's water gauge, using the optional natural gas regulator is also suitable. NOTE Natural gas may give reproducibility results outside specification. NOTE The M410 needs a primary regulator fitted to the gas cylinder, which differs depending on the gas and cylinder configuration:-...
805 to 1006 only Two position switch to select 50Hz or 60Hz. Refer to figure 4 for detailed information. Internal Controls There are no internal controls for the M410. However, the Lineariser module contains three preset potentiometers:- Upto serial number 18543 - Adjusts the overall sensitivity of the logarithmic amplifier.

2496 to 7200 When the M410 is powered up, the RL2 opens allowing C23 to charge up through R30. While C23 is charging, VT2 and VT3 are switched off, which results in IC11, pin 8, holding RL1 on and thus supplying AC to the ignition unit, which generates the sparks to ignite the flame.

Sherwood Scientific Limited Instrument Description Main Printed Circuit Board Continued Fuel Solenoid Control Fuel is supplied to the burner during the ignition cycle, and for as long as the ‘flame on’ condition is sensed. serial number 2496 onwards During the ignition cycle IC11, pin 10, is held low by the ignition timing circuit. This turns VT4 on, which in turn enables the fuel solenoid, thus delivering fuel to the burner.
NOTE The Lineariser PCB circuit diagram is shown as Figure 3. General The Lineariser PCB is fitted to the main PCB to convert the M410 for clinical applications. The Lineariser is connected via nine sockets, SK8 to SK16, on the Main PCB.
Please refer to Figure 4a in conjunction with this description. The M805 Dilutor is a stand alone dilutor for use with M410’s fitted with the Lineariser for Clinical applications. Each AC line is fed through a fuse to the ‘power’ on/off push-button, via the terminal block and then back to the terminal block for connection to the transformer.
0 to 5V DC analogue output suitable for chart recorders, data loggers and computer A/D interfaces. The output is a nominal 5V DC equivalent to full scale on the M410 (1999 or 199.9). This output may be finely adjusted to directly match the digital display of the instrument by adjusting the pre-set potentiometer behind the blanking plug to the left of the red socket.
Maintenance General The M410 and M805 have been designed to allow customers to carry out all routine maintenance procedures, e.g. Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Six Monthly. Refer to the M410 Instruction Manual or the M805 Instruction Manual for detailed information. The various procedures are listed below:-...
Setting Up and Check Procedures General For information on setting/checking the air regulator, Nebuliser and fuel adjuster refer to the M410 Instruction Manual. Refer to the M805 Instruction manual for information on changing pump tubes and rollers, checking pump flow rates and adjusting the frequency.
Sherwood recommend that Lineariser PCB’s are set up using the instrument that they will be fitted to. However, if a M410 is not available to supply +5V, -5V and 0V then a power supply will be required, with outputs that are within ±5%.
‘Pozidriv’ (cross head) screwdriver, 1PT; Flat blade screwdriver, blade width 4mm. Switch off the M410. Using a ‘Pozidrive’ screwdriver remove the six screws securing the front panel (two at the bottom front edge and four at the top rear edge). Gently hinge the front panel away from the top edge (the fuel control knob will push off).
