TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM OR SYMPTOM
Tiller Tines do not rotate.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Tractor Power Take Off not
operating.
CHECKS AND CORRECTIONS
Power take off dutch not working. Adjust
tractor power take off.
Tiller drive dutch slipping.
Adjust tiller drive clutch.
Clean any wire, chain, etc. frorn tiller tines.
Tines rotate, but tiller does not
till deeply enough.

Tiller drive chain broken.
Replace drive chain. See your Simplicity
dealer.
Tiller depth chain not correctly
adjusted.
Adjust depth chain for tilling depth
required. See page 3-
Engine speed not correct.
See controlling tilling depth and clod size on
page 4.
Ground too hard.
Make several passes, setting the tilling depth
deeper with each pass.
Tiller leaves ground rough or
cloddy.
Ground speed too fast.
Ground too wet.
Depth chain set too low.
Reduce ground speed.
Allow ground to dry until ground will
not "ball up" when tilling.
See depth chain adjustment.
Tiller jolts tractor or tends to
propel tractor forward.
Ground speed toofast-
Reduce ground speed.
Tractor not stable on sloping
surfaces.
Tiller depth chain set too deep.
Adjust depth chain to till no more than 4
inches of untilled ground in one pass.
Ground speed too fast.
Slow ground speed, Usecare when operating
on rough or sloping surfaces.
Tractor not properly weighted.
Use rear wheel weights when operating on
slopes.
Tire pressure incorrect.
Inflate tires according
manual.
