TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEM OR SYMPTOM
POSSIBLE CAUSES
CHECKS AND CORRECTIONS
Mower cuts uneven.
Cutter bar not lowered completely.
Be sure tractor lift is lowered all the way.
If there Is no slack in lift cable, see figure 2,
and place guide pulley (C) in rear hole.
Rough looking cut - or grass being
pulled out by roots.
Engine speed too slow.
Ground speed too fast.
Increase engine speed.
Reduce ground speed.
Sickle knives not registered
correctly.
Adjust register as explained on page 5.
Knife edges dull.
Replace or sharpen sickle knives.
Cutter bar does not raise high
enough (45<>) using tractor lift.
Lift cable guide pulley not In
correct lift bracket hole.
See figure 2. Place pulley {C} in the forward
hole to increase lift.
Cutter bar breaks back too easily.
Ground speed too fast.
Reduce ground speed-
Break-back latch not correctly
adjusted.
Adjust break-back latch. See page 5.
Cutter bar does not break back
when solid object is hit.
Break-back latch not properly
adjusted.
Adjust break-back latch. See page 5.
Tractor handles poorly.
Tires not properly inflated.
Inflate tires according to tractor owner's
manual.
Traveling too fast on rough or
sloping ground-
Reduce speed.
Not using recommended weights.
Use rear wheel weights.
city dealer. Every 5 hours lubricate the following grease fit¬
tings with 5 shots of grease or until grease is seen forced out
of the bearings:

EVERY 10 HOURS
See figure 13. Every 10 hours, lubricate grease fittings A and
B with multi-purpose lithium soap base grease.
It is important that these fitting not be overgreased as the
excess grease may be forced out and get on the drive belts and
cause them to slip. Grease fitting (B) with 5 shots, or less if
pressure is felt indicating it is full or grease is seen forced out
at (D). Lubricate fitting [A) only until grease appears at [C],
DO NOT OVER LUBRICATE,
OUT OF SERVICE PROTECTION (STORAGE)
1, Remove the sickle bar mower from the tractor. See
page 3-
2. Use water under pressure and a brush to thoroughly clean
the sickle bar mower of any buildup of dirt or other ma¬
terial,
3- Cover any area where paint has been worn or chipped a-
way with paint or a light coat of oEL
EVERY 5 HOURS
A multi-purpose lithium base grease designed to operate at
high temperatures must be used in the lubrication of your
sickle bar mower. This grease is available from your SimplR
