BeatStep Pro can be configured and used in many different ways. We can not list them all here, but we can try and give you a few examples in this quickstart.
First make sure your Beatstep Pro is in 24ppqn mode:
Connect the Sync socket of your Roland gear to the Beatstep Pro Clock input using the Black DIN to Jack adaptator.
Set the Sync of the Beatstep Pro on "CLK"
Now press play on your Roland device, Beatstep Pro should start.
Important note:
If the two devices are not synchronized when playing.
Connect the Sync socket of your Roland gear to the Beatstep Pro Clock output using the Black DIN to Jack adaptator.
Set your Roland device as a Slave of the DIN sync signal. It should differ from the gear you're using. Take a look at the manual of your Roland gear to have more informations about the DIN Sync slave settings.
"In that example we are using a TR-707.
To set the DIN Sync as Master Clock:
Hold down [SHIFT] + [SYNC MODE] until the screen displays: '5-d' "
Now press play on the Beatstep Pro, your Roland device should start.
Important note:
If the two devices are not synchronized when playing.
You can use the Clock In/Out with a simple mono mini-jack to send the clock to an analog sequencer or anything you want in your modular system.
The Beatstep Pro is also sending a start/stop signal through its output.
Here is a scheme of an adaptation which links the two separated signals.
Here you can download full pdf version of manual, it may contain additional safety instructions, warranty information, FCC rules, etc.
