Hardware installation This section provides information on installing drives, memory modules, and connecting to a computer or network. Drive installation The QVP-xxB series is compatible with 3.5-inch hard drives, 2.5-inch solid-state drives, and M.2 solid-state drives.

  • Page 22 Note • QNAP recommends installing heatsinks on the M.2 SSD controllers to enhance cooling efficiency and to ensure consistent performance. • Before installing non-QNAP heatsinks, ensure that they are of the appropriate size and shape. 1. Power off the device.

  • Page 28 Connecting the device to a computer Connecting the QVP-xxB to a QNAP NAS allows you to expand storage capacity and back up data to the NAS through Ethernet cable connections on the device. However, you must connect the QVP-xxB to a computer to configure device settings.

  • Page 34 USB One Touch Copy button The USB One Touch Copy button allows you to copy data backups from a USB device to the QNAP device or from the QNAP device to a USB device. This feature supports incremental backups. The QNAP device only copies files that were modified or added after the last backup.
