CHECKING THE SIDE STAND

Carefully read page 56 (MAINTENANCE).
WARNING
ONLY FOR SIDE STAND.
Danger of falling or overturning.
When straightening the vehicle from
parking position to riding position, the
side stand retracts automatically.
NOTE
The following information refers to
a single side stand, but is applicable to both.

The side stand (4) must be able to rotate
freely, without binding.
Carry out the following checks:
The springs (5) must not be damaged,
worn, rusted or weakened.
The side stand must pivot freely. Grease
the joint if necessary, see page 74
(LUBRICANT CHART).

CHECKING THE SWITCHES

There are two switches on the vehicle:
– Brake light switch on rear brake lever
(combined).
– Stopping light switch on front brake lever.
Should you require service or technical
assistance, contact an aprilia dealer to
ensure thorough, rapid service.
INSPECTING THE FRONT E REAR
SUSPENSION
Carefully read page 56 (MAINTENANCE).
CAUTION
To change the front suspension oil,
contact your
nearest aprilia dealer, to ensure
thorough, rapid service.
Change the front suspension oil every 30000
km (18750 mi) or every 4 years.
After the first 1000 km (625 mi), and every
6000 km (3750 mi) thereafter, also carry out
the following checks:
Applying the front brake lever, press
repeatedly on the handlebar to push the
fork down.
The fork must slide smoothly and evenly,
and there must be no traces of oil on the
fork tubes.
Make sure that all parts are properly
tightened and that the front and rear
suspensions are in good working order.
CAUTION
Should you notice any malfunctions or
require the assistance of a skilled
mechanic, contact your nearest aprilia
dealer.
