cMT Series Quick Start Guide
Introduction
cMT = Control and Monitor. The cMT series of products are programmable operator interfaces that can
be accessed on the Local Area Network (LAN) via Wi-Fi and Ethernet devices with the free cMT Viewer
application. cMT Viewer is a client application that enables users to view and control cMT devices. Wi-Fi
connectivity is accomplished through a standard user-provided wireless router. cMT Viewer is available
for PC, Apple, and Android devices. Apple devices require iOS v6.0 or later, and Android devices require
v4.1 or later.
This guide will cover the basic settings and connectivity features of the cMT Viewer compatible models
(the cMT-G01 and cMT-G02 gateway products are not covered in this manual).
How It Works
When a client display device (cMT-iV5, smart phone, tablet, or PC) running the cMT Viewer application
connects to the cMT server device, the interface application is transferred to and stored on the display
device. Only application data is exchanged between the cMT hardware, acting as a server, and the client
device. This client/server architecture offloads CPU intensive tasks such as rendering project graphics
from the cMT server hardware to whatever client platform is used to connect to it. The cMT server
device's CPU is freed up for tasks such as PLC communication. This enables multiple client devices to
connect to a single cMT server with each client device providing an interactive and responsive user
experience.
A cMT server device can host (exchange data with) up to 3 display devices simultaneously. A display
device can rapidly switch between up to 3 cMT units.
