Let's get started

Charging the X5

Please use the supplied rapid charger to charge the X5. The charge port can be found at the rear of the speaker. A full charge will take around 4 hours. The four battery indicators will light up during charging.

Pairing the speaker to your phone or device (Bluetooth mode)

1. Pres s the ON/OF F button to enter Bluetooth mode.
2. The speaker will turn on and say "Bluetooth". The Bluetooth icon and the word "BLUE", will flash on the LED display.
3. On your phone or device, look for "BlueAnt X5" under the Bluetooth settings menu. Click on "BlueAnt X5" on your phone.
4. Once paired, the speaker will say "Connected" and the LED display will stop flashing the word "BLUE" and remain solid. You are now ready to play some music!

Powering the speaker On/Off

Press button to power on/off the speaker (1.5 seconds). The LED display will show "On" after you have pressed the button. Each time the speaker powers on, it will reset to 25% volume. After 10 mins with no connection, the X5 will automatically power off to conserve battery.

Using the buttons for playing music

LED light modes

With five built-in LED light modes, the X5 lights can be changed to suit the mood and the music. Simply press the LED button to toggle through each mode.

Bass Boost

1. Press the Bass Boost button to change from Standard EQ to Bass Boost. This will give you another 3dB of bass.
2. Press again to go back to Standard EQ. Each time the X5 is powered on, it will reset to Standard EQ.

See Sections "Enhancing the bass through speaker positioning" & "Duo mode speaker positioning and enhancing the bass" to learn how you can enhance the bass even more, by positioning the speaker (for indoor use).

Reconnect and disconnect Bluetooth devices

1. Press the Bluetooth button for 1 second to re-connect to the last paired device.
2. Press and hold the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds to disconnect the current Bluetooth connected phone. The X5 will prompt "disconnected". Then other Bluetooth devices can find and pair with the X5.

Battery life and play time

• The X5 has a play time of around 20 hours at 50% volume.
• When used at 100% volume the play time is 5-6 hours.
• To use the X5 at 100% volume for long periods, please use the supplied rapid charger.
• Battery life will vary based on type of music, level of bass and environmental factors.
• 4 lights - Battery fully charged.

Do not expose the X5 speaker to liquid whilst playing or charging, as doing so may be dangerous, and result in permanent damage to the speaker or charger.

Powerbank - For charging your phone

• The X5 has a built in powerbank function (at the top of the X5) with an output of the 5V1A.
• Use of the powerbank function will lower the overall play time of the X5.
• When the X5 battery is very low the powerbank function will turn off to conserve power.

Aux mode

• Plug in an AUX cable and press the Aux mode button.
• Use a 3.5mm cable to connect the speaker to an audio source (PC, MP3/MP4, mobile phone).
• When you unplug the AUX cable, the X5 will change back to Bluetooth mode.
• To change or control tracks, please use your music source when in AUX in mode.

USB mode

• Plug in a USB stick and press the USB mode button.
• When you unplug the USB stick, the X5 will change back to Bluetooth mode.

USB Loop mode Loop the current song or loop all songs

Press once to loop the current song, so it plays continuously. The LED display will show "ONE". Press again to loop all songs stored on the USB stick. Playback will go back to the first track after the last track has finished. The LED display will show "ALL".

Using the microphones

To avoid feedback, please do not point the microphone at the speaker or bring the microphone within 30cm of the speaker.

1. Connect the cable to the microphone as per the below.
   
2. Plug one or two microphones into the microphone inputs. See 15 & 16 below.

3. The microphone features an ON/OFF switch. Please ensure the microphone is in the ON position to use it.
4. Increase or decrease microphone volume and echo, as per the table below.

Duo mode - Pairing two X5 speakers together

Dual speaker, wireless stereo pairing, for wide stereo sound stage. For maximum bass experience, you can connect two X5 speakers and place one in each corner of a room to double the sound. Please see Section "Duo mode speaker positioning and enhancing the bass".

1. Press the power button on the first speakerto turn the speaker "On".
2. Press and hold the Duo mode button for 4 seconds button on the first speaker until the speaker says, "Duo mode pairing' then release the button. The Duo mode icon will flash on the LED display. The word "DUO" will flash on the LED screen.
3. Press the power button on the second speaker to turn the speaker "On"
4. Press and hold the Duo mode button for 4 seconds on the second speaker until the speaker says, "Duo mode pairing" then release the buttons. The Duo mode icon will flash on the LED display. The word "DUO" will flash on the LED screen.
5. Please wait until one speaker says "Duo mode connected". This may take up to 1 minute. The speakers are now connected to each other.
6. The speaker that says "Duo mode connected" is the master speaker, and this is the speaker that you should pair with your phone. The Duo mode icon will cease flashing on the LED display. The word "DUO" will stay solid on the screens.

For Bluetooth pairing, look for "BlueAnt X5" on your phone. When in Duo mode and you power off one speaker, both speakers will power off.
When you power on the speakers, they need to be turned on individually.
When both speakers are powered on, Duo mode will automatically reconnect and you will hear "Duo mode connected".
To disconnect Duo mode, press and hold the Duo mode button for 4 seconds until you hear "Duo mode disconnected".
To clear Duo mode pairing, press and hold the Duo mode buttons for 8 seconds until the speaker says "Duo mode cleared".
Assuming direct line of sight, you should be able to achieve a range of over 40 metres between the two speakers. When used indoors, the range will be affected by internal walls or obstacles between the speakers.

Enhancing the bass through speaker positioning (indoors)

The X5 has a rear firing port to extend the low frequency bass response.
If maximum bass is your thing, try these tips and tricks for speaker placement indoors.

When the X5 speaker is placed on the floor (assuming no walls close by), the floor re-enforces the bass (+6dB).
When the X5 speaker is sitting on the floor near a wall, the floor and wall re-enforces the bass (+12dB).

Putting the X5 in a corner gives maximum bass reinforcement (+18dB).

Duo mode speaker positioning and enhancing the bass

Pair two X5 speakers together and place them in corners of the room, FOR OUT OF THIS WORLD BASS.
