Flow-Rate Indicator

Espresso Flow-Rate

Flow-Rate Indicator - Espresso Flow-Rate

The Flow-Rate Indicator is an LED bar on the top of the display. It helps you visualize your espresso flow-rate in real time and spot channeling during brewing.

In Mode 1 to Mode 6, the indicator measures espresso flow-rate with lit LEDs starting from 0.1 g/s on the left to 3.4 g per second on the right. When the flow-rate exceeds 5.0 g/s, the last three LEDs lights up with enhanced brightness, indicating a high flow-rate. During an espresso brew, the Flow-Rate Indicator will display the highest peak flow-rate of this brew with a single bright LED.

Enable markings on the Flow-Rate Indicator for easier reading of the flow-rate value. Each marking indicates an increment of 0.5 g/s for the current flow-rate, and the highest marking is 4.0 g/s.

Pour Over Flow-Rate

Flow-Rate Indicator - Pour Over Flow-Rate

In Mode 7 (Pour Over Auto-Start Timer Mode), the Flow-Rate Indicator helps you visualize your pouring speed in real time and suggests thresholds for ideal flow rates. The indicator measures flow rates with lit LEDs starting from 0.2 g/s on the left to 4.0 g/s on the right. When the flow-rate exceeds 12.0 g/s, the last three LEDs lights up with enhanced brightness. This indicates a high flow rate.

Enable markings on the Flow-Rate Indicator for easier reading of the flow-rate value. Each marking indicates an increment of 2.0 g/s for the current flow-rate, and the highest marking is 8.0 g/s.

Note: To enable this function, please see Flow-Rate Indicator in the Configuration section. Set the Flow-Rate indicator to Grad.

Brewing with Flow-Rate Indicator

Place a cup on the scale to start brewing.

During an espresso brew, the Flow-Rate Indicator will display the highest peak flow-rate of this brew with a single bright LED.

The highest peak flow-rate LED will stay on the display during an espresso brew.

When brewing is completed, the highest peak flow-rate LED will stay on the display.

When brewing is completed and the cup is removed from the scale, the display will flash to show the final beverage weight and the average flow-rate of the brewing. The Flow-Rate Indicator will show the average flow-rate with a stripe LED and the highest peak flow-rate with a single bright LED.

Tare Save

If you have a frequently used container in your weighing workflow, you can save the weight of the container using the Tare Save function. This will allow you to weigh the container with contents, then trigger Tare Save to deduct the container weight and obtain the net weight. The Tare Save function can be activated in Weighing mode and Dual Display Mode.

Pre-Infusion Time Out Setting [ PrE_inFu ]

  1. Determines when the scale times out in Auto-Start mode and two Auto-Start modes when the timer is manually started. This is most useful for long pre-infusion times and resolves the timeout issue that sometimes happens for slower pre-infusions.
  2. The number indicates the time in seconds it will take for the scale to reset if no espresso flow or weight is detected.

Power Off Setting [ P_OFF ]

  1. Default: The default method to turn off the scale is by double-tapping the Power button.

Auto-Start Sensitivity Setting [ SEnSE ]

  1. Minimum weight is decreased for more sensitivity. This is ideal for slower espresso shots in the modes. Stability depends on environmental noise.
  2. The number indicates the sensitivity of flow detection in the modes. A smaller value indicates higher sensitivity, but is recommended only for stable working environments.

Weighing Resolution Setting [ rESoL ]

  1. The Weighing Resolution is automatically set to [ dEFAUL ]: the division is 0.1 g/0.002 oz.
  2. Tap the Tare button to switch the Weighing Resolution between [ dEFAUL ] and [ hiGh ].

Note: After setting Weighing Resolution to high, the default display will show [ 0:00 0.00 ] with timer in Dual Display Mode and Auto Start Modes.

Weighing Filter Setting [ FiLtEr ]

  1. The default setting is Fast.
  2. The weighing filter setting determines the speed with which the load receptor responds to and determines the weight. "High" indicates a more stable but slower weighing result; "Fast" indicates higher sensitivity and a faster weighing result.

Zero Tracking Setting [ trAcE ]

  1. Zero Tracking is a function for automatically maintaining the zero indication within certain limits.
  2. Off: It is not recommended to turn off Zero Tracking because the zero indication can drift easily as the room temperature changes.
  3. 0.5 d~3 d: For example, for standard resolution each division is 0.1 g, 3 d = 0.3 g. When Zero Tracking is set to be 3 d, any initial weight between ± 0.3 g on the weighing pan will be zeroed out gradually.
  4. 2 d is recommended in general for the Acaia Lunar.

Bluetooth Setup Setting [ bt_SEt ]

  1. Off: Bluetooth disabled. The scale does not allow any Bluetooth connection.
  2. On: Bluetooth enabled. The scale allows Bluetooth connection. The user may connect the scale with Acaia apps.
