Rear/Loading Area

ADBLUE®
Technology that significantly reduces emissions.

Working Principle
Renault Master uses a selective catalytic reduction system with AdBlue®, which lowers emissions.
AdBlue® is a non-toxic liquid solution made of 32.5% urea diluted in deionised water. When injected into the exhaust systems of diesel vehicles, it transforms potentially hazardous NOx (nitrogen oxide) emissions into harmless substances composed of nitrogen and water vapour.

  • Show the customer where the AdBlue® tank is, on the right-hand side of the vehicle, near the fuel filler flap.
  • Tell them that the tank has capacity is 28 litres.
  • Tell them that AdBlue® is available at gas stations (in bottles, 10 L cans or from an AdBlue® dispenser pump).
  • Show the Customer where the AdBlue® warning is displayed on the vehicle's on-board computer. Tell them that is displayed when the fluid level is low (about 1,500 km remaining) or when there is a malfunction in the selective catalytic reduction system.
  • Let your customer know that the vehicle will not start if the AdBlue® tank is empty.
  • The consumption of AdBlue® is highly dependent on the conditions of use (vehicle load, driving style, outside temperature, etc).
  • In freezing conditions, fill the tank quickly as soon as the first AdBlue® level warning appears, (the additive may freeze, making it difficult to fill the tank). You MUST wait 10 seconds with the engine running after adding AdBlue® so the new tank level is recognised.
  • Advise the customer to always have a can of AdBlue® in their vehicle.

Driving Position

STOP & START

This feature is designed to reduce fuel consumption, noise and emissions.

Working Principle
Tell the customer that, by default, this system automatically activates each time the vehicle is started. When stationary (traffic jam, red light, etc), it stops the engine (stand-by). Show the customer the deactivation button.

For a vehicle with a manual transmission, explain to the customer that when they go into neutral and release the clutch, the engine will go into stand-by if the vehicle speed is below 3 km/h.
The indicator lights up on the dashboard to tell the driver that the engine has gone into stand-by.
Explain that by default, the mode is active at each start-up. Show the customer the deactivation button.

Activating/deactivating the function
Show the customer how to deactivate the function by pressing switch (1). The indicator light (2) built into the switch comes on. Press it again to reactivate the system. The indicator light (2) built into the switch (1) goes out. The system is automatically reactivated each time the customer intentionally starts the vehicle. Pressing it again reactivates the system. The indicator light (2) built into the switch (1) goes out.

  • Explain to the customer that some conditions – battery charge level, engine temperature, air-conditioning settings, driver's seatbelt unfastened – may prevent the engine from going into stand-by mode even when though the Stop & Start feature is activated.
  • Tell the customer that the starter-motor and battery are designed to work with the Stop and Start system.

BLIND SPOT WARNING

A feature that alerts the driver when another vehicle is in its blind spot.

Working Principle
Explain to the customer that, at speeds of 60-140 km/h, this feature alerts the driver when there's another vehicle in the blind spot zone A, moving in the same direction as their vehicle.
Blind Spot Warning
If their vehicle overtakes the other vehicle, the indicator (4) will be activated only if the overtaken vehicle is in the blind spot for more than one second.
This feature uses sensors (1) fitted on either side of the front and rear bumpers.

Activating/deactivating the function

  • Show the customer how to deactivate the function by pressing switch (3). The built-in indicator (2) comes on.
  • Press it again to reactivate the system.
  • The built-in indicator (2) goes out and the message "blind spot warning on" is displayed on the dashboard.
  • When the engine is started, the system goes back to the state it was in when the ignition was turned off.

DISPLAY CONFIGURATIONS
Explain all the displays in detail to the Customer:

Display B:
Function is on, no vehicle detected.

Display C:
First warning: direction indicator off, indicator (4) shows that a vehicle has been detected in the blind spot zone.

Display D:
Direction indicator on, indicator (4) blinks when the function detects a vehicle in the blind spot zone on the same side as you're about to turn the steering wheel towards. If you switch the direction indicator off, it goes to the first warning (display C).
The system's detection capability is adjusted for a standard lane-width. If you're driving in a narrow lane, it may detect a vehicle travelling in the other lane.

  • The system may not work if the object is not moving; in heavy traffic; on a bend in the road; if both front and rear sensors detect an object at the same time (e.g. a long truck), etc.

TYRE PRESSURE

Safety first! The driver is warned if the pressure is too low (deflated or punctured tyre, etc).

All-new Master comes with a direct tyre pressure loss alert, a system that runs during driving (above 40 km/h) and checks every 30 seconds for a loss of pressure compared to the reference pressure, thanks to sensors in the inflation valve:

TYRE PRESSURE REINITIALISATION
Inform the customer that after any change in pressure in one of the four tyres (e.g. after using the inflation kit, over-inflating the tyre for motorway driving, deflating the tyre [if pressure is too high], or after any wheel change or tyre rotation), it is essential to systematically reinitialise the system in accordance with the reinitialisation procedure in order to avoid unwarranted alerts.
Carry out this procedure with the customer in order to reinitialise the reference value using the button located on the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel.

Tap button (3) or (4) repeatedly in order to select the "Tyre pressure acquisition" function on the display (2). Then press and hold button (3) or (4) (for around 3 seconds) to launch initialisation.
The "Tyre pressure acquisition launched" message will be displayed, indicating that the request has been received.
Reinitialisation is complete after driving at over 40 km/h for several minutes.

  • Inform your customer that the tyre pressure reinitialisation must be performed when the engine is cold.
  • A sudden loss of tyre pressure (e.g. from a burst tyre) may not be detected by the system.

DISPLAY CONFIGURATIONS
Explain the various display configurations of the orange indicator light:

Readjust tyre pressure:
If the pressure in at least one tyre is not high enough, the indicator light comes on, accompanied by the message "Readjust tyre pressure". These indicate that at least one tyre is deflated.

Puncture:
When at least one of the tyres is punctured, or significantly under-inflated, the indicator light comes on, accompanied by an audio signal and the "Puncture" message. This message is accompanied by the indicator light.

Check tyre sensors:
If at least one of the wheels does not have sensors (the spare wheel, for example) the light flashes for several seconds then stays on, accompanied by the message "Check tyre sensors".
This message is accompanied by the indicator light.

STORAGE – TIPS AND HINTS

A smart mobile office so you can work more efficiently.
Show your customer that Master has the largest stowage volume in its class, up to 105 L, and has many handy storage areas so everything you need is close at hand.

Smart spaces for writing and working:

  • Retractable Easy Life Tablet (1), strong enough for a laptop or for writing on.
  • A swivelling tablet (2), a writing tablet and a cup holder.
  • Sliding Easy Life drawer (3) as easy to use as the glove compartment.

CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEED LIMITER

Another way to control the vehicle in order to comply with speed limits and enjoy stress-free driving.
Remind them that these functions are meant to assist the driver and are not in any way a substitute for their own vigilance, responsibility, or compliance with speed limits.

Working Principle
The speed limiter prevents the vehicle from exceeding the chosen running speed, also called the "limit speed".
Conversely, the cruise control function keeps the running speed constant.

CONTROLS
Cruise Control and Speed Limiter Overview

(1) Activates, stores and increases the limit/cruising speed (+).

(2) Decreases the limit/cruising speed (-).

(3) Puts the function in stand-by (while storing the limit/cruising speed) (O).

(4) Activates the function with the stored limit/cruising speed (R).

(5) Main On/Off switch.

SPEED LIMITER FUNCTION
Press the side switch (5) . The indicator (6) lights up orange and the message "limiter" is displayed on the dashboard, accompanied by dashes to indicate that the speed limiter is on and waiting for a limit speed to be set.
To store the current speed, press switch (1) (+): the minimum speed that can be stored is 30 km/h.
To store another speed, select it with switch (1) (+) to increase the speed, and (2) (-) to reduce it.
To go over the limit speed, fully depress the gas pedal (past the "hard point"). When the gas pedal is released, the speed limiter function cuts back in as soon as the speed falls below the stored speed.

CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION
Press the side switch (5) . The indicator (6) lights up green and the message "Cruise control" is displayed on the dashboard, accompanied by dashes to indicate that the cruise control function is on and waiting for a governed cruising speed to be set.
When the speed is stable, above 30 km/h, press switch (1) (+) or (2) to activate the function and store the current speed.
When the governed cruising speed is stored, you can take your foot off the gas pedal.
To select another speed, use the selector (1) (+) to increase the speed or (2) (-) to decrease it.
You can deactivate the cruise control function at any time by pressing the brake pedal or pushing the switch.

RESUME AND PAUSE THE LIMIT/CRUISING SPEED
When a speed is stored, it can be retrieved by pressing switch (4) (R).
NB: in cruise-control mode, if the stored speed is much higher than the current speed, the vehicle will accelerate quickly to that threshold.
To pause the speed limiter or cruise control functions, press switch (3) (O).
The cruise control function can also be paused by using the brake or clutch pedal, or by shifting into neutral in automatic transmission vehicles.
In all three cases, the governed cruising speed remains stored and the message "stored" is displayed on the dashboard. The green indicator goes out to confirm the system is paused.

TURNING THE FUNCTION OFF

The speed limiter/cruise-control functions can be switched off by using switch (5). In this case, no speed is stored.

  • The speed limiter/cruise control functions never control the braking system.
  • Keep your feet near the pedals and be ready to act in case of emergency.
  • Cruise control must not be used in heavy traffic, on winding or slippery roads (black ice, aquaplaning, grit) or in poor weather conditions (fog, rain, cross winds, etc).

REVERSING CAMERA/PARKING ASSISTANCE

Simpler manoeuvring for safer parking and warns them of the risk of fatigue.

PARKING ASSISTANCE
(obstacle detection)
Show to your customer that, when they shift into reverse, the presence of objects near the front, rear and sides of the vehicle is indicated by an audio signal transmitted by the ultrasonic sensors in the vehicle's bumper. The signal becomes more frequent as you approach the obstacle, turning into a continuous tone once the obstacle is within 30 cm of the vehicle.

Temporarily deactivating/reactivating the system
With the vehicle at standstill, press switch (5) to deactivate the system. The warning light (4) built into the switch lights up to show the system is deactivated. Press it again to reactivate the system. The warning light will go out. Explain to your Customer that they can deactivate the system for a longer period with a long press of the switch (5). In this case, the warning light stays on permanently.
You can then reactivate the system with another long press.

NB: The system is automatically reactivated after switching the engine off then restarting it.

  • Remind your customer that this function is meant to help the driver – it is not a substitute for their own vigilance and responsibility.

THE REVERSING CAMERA
A supplemental aide that is no substitute for the driver's own vigilance!
Show the customer that when they shift into reverse, the camera (1) situated on the rear hinged door sends a view of the area behind the vehicle on the rear view mirror (2) or the multimedia display, accompanied by one or two guide lines (4) and (5) (moving and stationary). The moving guide line (4) shows the vehicle's path depending on the position of the steering wheel and the fixed guide line includes colour markers A, B and C, which indicate how far the objects are from the vehicle's fender lines.

Explain to the customer how to interpret the distance lines:

  1. (red) approx. 30 cm from the vehicle
  2. (yellow) approx. 70 cm from the vehicle
  3. (green) approx. 150 cm from the vehicle.

Activating/deactivating the reversing camera
From the multimedia screen select "Vehicle" > "Settings" > "Parking assistance" > "Reversing camera". Activate or deactivate the reversing camera and confirm your choice.

AUTOMATIC AIR-CONDITIONING/DEMISTING

To deactivate the function, press key (1) or key (3). (AUTO lights up on the display panel).

  • The maximum settings of 15°C and 27°C set the system to produce maximum cold or heat regardless of the ambient conditions.

DRIVING ASSISTANCE

Technology that significantly reduces emissions.

CROSS WIND STABILISATION ASSISTANCE
Explain to your customer that this feature optimises the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and contributes to the vehicle's handling in cross winds.
This system helps maintain the vehicle's course by controlling the braking system.
Explain that when the system is triggered, the warning light on the dashboard comes on. The system is active from 70 km/h in straight lines.

ACTIVE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM (AEBS)

Working Principle
Add that this clever system analyses the environment and warns the driver when there is a risk of a head-on crash. Show them where the radar (1) is located.
Explain that the system computes the distance between the vehicle and the one in front, warns the driver when there is a risk of a head-on crash and may, if necessary, apply the vehicle brakes.

Operation
While driving (speed between 5 and 100km/h approx.), when there is a risk of colliding with the vehicle in front, the warning light on the dashboard blinks, and a warning tone sounds. Warning: at speeds above 100 km/h, the system can only identify moving objects (vehicles).
If the driver presses the brake pedal and the system still detects a potential collision, the warning light continues to blink and the warning tone also continues to sound until the system no longer detects any risk of collision.
If the driver does not react to the warning and the collision becomes imminent, the system applies the brakes.
Tell the customer that they may release the brakes by pressing down rapidly on the accelerator or turning the steering wheel to take evasive action.

Activating/deactivating the system
Show your customer how to activate/deactivate the system by getting them to press one of buttons (3) or (4) one after the other to select the "Active Braking" function on display panel (2).
Then press and hold button (3) or (4) for about 3 seconds to deactivate the system.
The warning light on the dashboard being permanently on confirms that the system has been deactivated.

NB: Up to 45 km/h, the warning and braking operate simultaneously;
Between 45 km/h and 80 km/h, the warning alone is activated. The brakes are only applied if the vehicle in front of you is in motion (brakes are not applied for vehicles at a standstill);
Between 80 and 160 km/h, the alert and braking are both triggered if the vehicle in front of you is in motion.

  • Tell your customer that the system may remain deactivated if the gear shift lever is in neutral, the parking brake is activated, or the vehicle is in the middle of a turn.

REAR VIEW SURVEILLANCE ASSISTANCE
Explain to your customer that the rear view surveillance assistance camera provides an image of the surroundings at the rear over the medium and long distances via the screen (2) built into the front ceiling light.
The function is switched off automatically when going into reverse and 30 seconds after turning the ignition off.

  • Explain to the customer that the rear view surveillance assistance camera has a blind spot that makes it completely unsuitable for parking manoeuvres. To prevent the system from being used incorrectly, the image is switched off when you shift into reverse.
  • Objects that appear on the edges of the screen may be distorted.
  • In very bright conditions (snow, vehicle in the full sun), the camera's view may be partly obscured.
  • In low-light or poor weather conditions, the image on the screen may be of poor quality.
