Before You Begin

Place cardboard or other floor protection under work area. Wipe off excess debris from chain using a rag. Shift to the smallest rear sprocket. Position bike so the lower section of chain is parallel to ground. Use of a repair stand is recommended.

To Use

1. Attach CM-5.3 to lower section of chain with handle installed on side facing away from bike.
   
   1. For bicycles and e-bike with rear hub drive see Figure 1.
   2. For center drive e-bikes see Figure 2.
2. Fill with cleaning fluid to fill line (Figure 3). Park Tool ChainBrite™ Cleaning Fluid is recommended.
   
3. Turn pedals approximately 30 revolutions.
   1. For traditional bicycles and e-bikes with rear hub drive, turn pedals backwards (Figure 4).
      
   2. For center drive e-bikes, set motor assist to OFF and turn pedals forward (Figure 5).
      
4. Empty CM-5.3 and rinse with water. Squeeze fluid from sponge.
5. Repeat steps 1– 4, substituting soapy water in step 2.
6. Dry and then lubricate chain.

Tips

• When turning pedals, hold CM-5.3 body straight with chain to avoid chain coming off sprockets.
• Replacement brushes and sponges are available—part # RBS-5.

• Do not use gasoline, petrol, kerosene or other highly volatile or flammable solvents.
• Do not store cleaning fluid in CM-5.3.
• Dispose of spent cleaning fluid responsibly.
