INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the Sonance fire rated back can.
The hole in the fire rated back can will serve as a guide for
the drywall installer when cutting holes for in-ceiling or in-
wall speakers. The fire rated back can should be nailed or
screwed to the joists so that the hole is in the desired
location once the drywall is installed.
PARTS LIST
Each Fire Rated Back Can package includes the following
items:
(1) Fire Rated Back Can
(2) UL rated Snap2it™ wire clamps
INSTALLATION
1. Run speaker wire to desired speaker locations.
2. Remove back can and Snap2it™ connectors from
packaging.
3. Install Snap2it™ connector into open knock-out in
back can
Note: A second Snap2it™ connector is included for daisy
chained installations. The knock-out on the back can will
need to be removed for this type of installation.
4. Attach back can to studs or joists. Use screws that are at
least 3/4" long, and use at least 4 per back can.
5. Insert wire through Snap2it™ connector into the fire
rated back can. Leave enough slack to easily connect the
speaker.
6. The flange on the front of the can will function as a
guide during drywall installation.
7. Once the drywall is installed the speaker can be
mounted. Follow the instructions included with the
speakers for proper installation.
