    Foreword 2. Foreword The company medifa thanks you for purchasing the medifa 5000. The medifa 5000 is a product that combines design, functionality and comfort with the highest quality associated with German manufacturing. The medifa products are manufactured to have a long and trouble-free lifespan. The development, design and production at medifa have been certified to comply with DIN EN ISO 9001 and DIN EN ISO 13485.

    These operating instructions must be read and fully understood by the operating personnel before the initial commission- ing of the medifa 5000. This applies in particular to the Safety instructions and user obligations, in chapter 5. If necessary, in-house training for technical qualifications may be carried out by a qualified person. The operating instructions must be closely followed and available at the place of use.

    Do not position the patient on the medifa 5000 without the cushion. • When attached as per the instructions, the edges of the cushions on the medifa 5000 align with all table components. • Do not push any sharp-edged objects into the cushion or store such objects on it.

    10.1 Maximum permissible torques The maximum permissible torque on a standard rail of the medifa 5000 is 70 Nm on the lengthwise axis and 100 Nm on the transverse axis. The torque is acting on the rail as soon as an accessory is connected to a rail.

    Then select the desired patient position. Lift the patient on the medifa 5000 into the desired position, and do not pull over the cushions. Lift the relevant body parts of the patient with every change of position. Any creases that occur must be removed.
  • Page 20 Actuate the foot pump “upwards” [2] or “downwards” [3] (simply retain pressure when releasing the pump pedal, NOT pump). The medifa 5000 is moved to the lowest position for every mount and dismount, and when a patient mounts the medifa 5000 it is then moved to working height with the patient positioned on it.

If the panels are heavily tilted due to the Trendelenburg or anti-Trendelenburg setting, no longitudinal movement should take place otherwise there is a risk of the patient falling off.

    Do not jam feet into the cut-out in the chassis whilst turning or moving the medifa 5000. CAUTION Risk of collision! Be especially careful when transporting the medifa 5000. Make sure that no collisions with nearby people or fittings occur! • Be aware of its behaviour when driving before transporting patients for the first time.

    NOTICE Danger: incorrect maintenance may damage property The medifa 5000 is not suitable for an automated cleaning process! Do not use a high-pressure cleaner! Due to the high pressure of the water jet, liquid could penetrate through gaps or joints and damage the device (through corrosion).
