display mode indicator
• ON: The hexadecimal number display mode is selected.
(Orange)
• OFF: The decimal number display mode is selected.
The displayed item depends on the mode ("RUN,"
"CHECK," or "CONFIG" mode).
<RUN mode>
• Each transmission mode (A, B and C mode) will
be indicated and the LED of each character will
sequentially light up just like rotating clockwise. (the
display depends on each mode.)
2
Address display (Red)
• If an error occurs, the error message will appear.
<CHECK mode>
• The number of connected nodes will be displayed
the recognized addresses will be displayed one af-
ter another.
<CONFIG mode>
• Settings will be displayed sequentially.
• Press ENTER key to determine the set condition
value.
3
ENTER key
• In the system setting mode, press and hold ENTER
key for 3 sec. or more. The system will be set.
Use these keys to switch the displayed item or set item.
4
SELECT key
Also use these keys to change the set condition value.
This indicator will blink during transmission (when the
Tr ansmission mode

transmission signal is being output). The indicator
indicator (Green)
blinking cycle depends on the transmission speed.
Error condition will be indicated.
6
Error indicator (Red)
• Lights up when an error occurs.
• Blinks when the cause of the error is eliminated.

Recommended crimp-style terminals (manufactured by J.S.T Mfg Co., Ltd.):
• Round crimp-style terminal with vinyl insulator (V2-S3.3)
• Round crimp-style terminal with nylon insulator (N2-S3.3)
• Y-shaped crimp-style terminal with vinyl insulator (V1.25-B3A, V2-N3A)
• The tightening torque should be 0.29 to 0.49N·m.

Connection of main power supply unit
• Connect 0V and +24V to terminal Nos. 15 and 16, respectively, of SL-VCU1.
Notes: 1) Verify that the supply voltage
variation is within the rating.

mercial switching regulator, en-
sure that the frame ground (F.G.)
terminal of the power supply is
connected to an actual ground.
Connection of PLC I/O connector
• Connect SL-VCU1 and PLC I/O connector as follows by using the con-
trol cable (
) with attention to the color code.

Note: One control cable can connect up to 8 PLC I/O connectors to the controller. To connect
9 or more PLC I/O connectors, use 2 control cables. In this case, overlap the lead wires
of both cables, and connect them to the terminals.

CAUTIONS
This product has been developed / produced for industrial use only.
This product has no short-circuit protective function. Use a power sup-
ply having a short-circuit protective function (e.g. fuse, etc.).
Make sure that the power supply is OFF while wiring.
Take care that wrong wiring will damage the product.
Separate the S-LINK V cables from the PLC supply or power lines.
Transformer

S-LINK V
Do not run the wires together with high-voltage lines or power lines or
put them in the same raceway. This can cause malfunction due to in-
duction.
Verify that the supply voltage variation is within the rating. Also, verify
the voltage variation at the end terminal of the transmission route, since
voltage drop occurs depending on the diameter or the length of the
transmission cable.
If power is supplied from a commercial switching regulator, ensure that
the frame ground (F.G.) terminal of the power supply is connected to an

absorber to the supply and absorb the surge.
SL-VCU1
In case noise generating equipment (switching regulator, inverter motor,
etc.) is used in the vicinity of any S-LINK V device, connect the frame
ground (F.G.) terminal of the equipment to an actual ground.
Do not use in an airtight place. Use in a place provided with ventilation
holes or a fan.
This product does not have a dust-proof or water-proof construction.
Do not use it in a place having excessive vapor, dust, etc.
Take care that the product does not come in contact with water, oil,
chemicals or organic solvents, such as thinner, etc. Furthermore, do not
use it in an environment having corrosive gas.
In case of using this product in outdoor, put the product into a box, etc.
Any protective devices or safety circuits against system malfunction
should be designed to be external to the system.
