Disconnect the enclosure 
A proper disconnection of any USB hard drives and enclosures from your computer is
required to prevent any disruption during file transfers or even data corruption. To
disconnect open My Computer, select and right click the hard drive you would like to
disconnect and select Eject. The selected hard drive will disappear from your My
Computer list and a "Safe to Remove Hardware" message will appear on your system
tray.
