Your AstroMaster telescope with EQ mount includes: optical
tube with StarPointer fi nderscope, tripod with center
®
support bracket, equatorial mount, two eyepieces, two
counterweights, counterweight bar, two slow motion cables,
erect image diagonal, and accessory tray.

Check to ensure that all three legs are roughly the same
length so that the platform for the telescope is roughly level.
Make adjustments to the leg lengths if needed.

Locate the equatorial mount and place the base of the mount
through the hole in the center of the tripod mounting platform.

To set up the tripod, fi rst spread the three tripod legs apart
as far as they will go. Next, loosen the screw at the bottom
of each leg and extend each leg until the tripod reaches your
desired height (usually about six to 12 inches).

To attach the accessory tray, line up the notches and turn
the tray clockwise until tray tabs lock into place under the
tripod brackets.

From underneath the tripod mounting platform, thread the
mounting nut into the threaded hole on the bottom of the
equatorial mount.

Secure each leg at the desired height by retightening the
screw at the bottom of the leg.

Check to ensure that you have attached the accessory tray
correctly and it resembles the picture above.

Thread the latitude adjustment screw into the equatorial
mount until the screw is touching the inside of the mount.
