    Connect to iSCSI Server To begin, please insert the product CD-ROM in a PC to access the Quick Guide, User Manual and install the utilities. As user runs the product CD, the following menu is displayed. 2.3.1 Quick Guide Click “Quick Guide” to enter the folder and double click the file to open.
  • Page 15 When installing NVR Search, Shield Wizard window for NVR Search will pop up. Click “Next” to continue installation. Read the license agreement and click “I accept the terms of the license agreement”. Click “Next” to continue installation.

    2.3.3 User Manual Click “User Manual” to open the folder and double-click on user manual file to read. 2.3.4 Browse CD Click “Browse CD” to open the folder of current Autorun.exe file. Quick Configuration After users log in iSCSI Server, the system will direct you to set Quick Configuration in five main steps.

    Click “Start” in Overview of wizard page to begin Quick Configuration. 2.3.2 Network Settings Please select “Network Settings” from the drop-down menu of Configuration Utility to begin. Users need to set up network in the Network Setup page to let iSCSI Server work properly within network.
  • Page 24 The default IP address will be given as 192.168.1.245. It should be adaptable in most networking environment, and user can choose to maintain the default IP address or change it in this page. However, it’s recommended setting different IP address of iSCSI Server. Enter the IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway IP Address and DNS server address.

    2.3.3 Server Settings Please select “Server Settings” from the drop-down menu of Configuration Utility to begin. (1) Server name with UPnP Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) simplifies the process of adding an iSCSI Server to a local area network. Once connected to LAN, the iSCSI Server will automatically appear on the internet.

    Configure the time and date by verifying and adjusting current local time and daylight saving to avoid the following errors: Incorrect display time for playback videos.  Inconsistent display time of event logs and when they actually occur.  Please enter the hostname of a valid NTP server to synchronize the server time with an Internet time server.
  • Page 28 Once an available hard disk drive is inserted into the tray, Disk Information will show in Device Information and users can start to create new RAID Disk. Disk Information Device Information provides details of the RAID information and hard disk drive information.
  • Page 29 Create As the hard disk drive is available, the status of Device Information shows “Ready,” which indicates the hard disk drive is ready to be created. Please click “Create” to enter the window for building New RAID Disk and select the hard disk drive in the Free HDDs field. The selected hard disk drive in the Free HDDs field will be marked in blue and please click to recruit the hard disk drive into Assigned HDDs field.

Disk Configuration Big Drive Big Drive is a collection of hard disk drives and does not (Linear) provide any RAID protection.
  • Page 31 Fault To have the best performance, a minimum of 6 hard disk Tolerant drives are required to create RAID6. The data are striped in all (RAID 6) hard drives in a RAID6 array and the parity information is stored in each drive. It tolerates failure of two hard drives. The data can be rebuilt from other member drives after installing a new drive to replace the failed one.
  • Page 32 Finally, the RAID disk building is complete. After the RAID disk is created, RAID List shows RAID Name and available storage devices. Device Information provides status of the hard drive: RAID Name, Level, Capacity, Status-Active, Action State, Background Activity and Progress-none.

Note: By clicking button on Initiator information again, users can unbind LUN from initiator. A warning message will pop out as below The storage space of iSCSI initiator (such as NVR) will become smaller because iSCSI LUN is disconnected.

    Delete LUN Select LUN and click “Delete” button to delete LUN. Note: To delete LUN, please ensure the LUN is not connected to iSCSI initiator. 2.3.7 Finish Please select “Finish” from the drop-down menu of Configuration Utility to begin. Once five steps of Quick Configuration are completed, the window will show the completed status.

    Chapter 3. Use iSCSI Server by Local Display iSCSI Server can be connected to a monitor via HDMI/VGA port to execute quick configuration. Log in iSCSI Server You have to key in the correct username and password to login iSCSI Server. Resolution: User can select the resolution 1920x1080 or 1024x768 in login page, when the monitor supports both types of resolution.

    Chapter 4. Use iSCSI Server by Remote Client Users can connect iSCSI Server via web browsers (Microsoft Edge/Chrome/ Firefox/ Opera browser in Windows), users can configure iSCSI Server’s settings. Chapter 5. Configuration In configuration page, users can configure Quick Configuration, Network Management, Disk Management, iSCSI, External Device Management, Event and System from each drop-down menu.

(1) Network Interfaces: Select Shared IP, Separated IP or Load Balance Shared IP ① Separated IP ② For iSCSI Server with two LAN port, users can set up dual IP application (Separated IP) to connect different network segments to maximize network efficiency.

    5.1.2 Network Service Please select “Network Service” from the drop-down menu of Network to begin. 1. Black/ White List For security concern, users can also define available/prohibited IP range (Black/White List). Edit White or Black List to allow or block different IP address. As White List is enabled, a window will pop up to make sure the execution.

User is recommended to add White List or Black List carefully according to different demand. Also, user can set either White List or Black List in the same time After the White List or Black List is added, the following information will display the accept access or deny access.

    External Device iSCSI Server supports UPS for 24/7 to provide emergency power. 5.4.1 UPS Management UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) is designed to provide emergency power to iSCSI Server when encountering unexpected power outage. Please select “UPS Management” from the drop-down menu of External Device to begin.
  • Page 51 UPS Low Power Warning ② UPS Low Power Warning is a pre-notice to warn users that UPS is nearly out of power before iSCSI Server automatically shutdown to sleep mode. Please enable this feature and fill a number to automatically shut down or startup iSCSI Server.

    Management 5.5.1 User Management iSCSI Server can be accessed by multiple users simultaneously. Except the built-in Administrator account (user name "admin" and password "admin"). Administrator can create other Power User and User accounts. Administrator possesses the highest privilege, compare to Power User and User. And User can only check iSCSI setting.
  • Page 53 Modify Users Please go to Modify User page. Select an account to modify the Power User or User. To delete the user account, please click “Delete” from User List. The selected account will turn to blue and the page for modifying user will appear below.
  • Page 54 Optional setting: (1) User-defined Password: administrator can define whether power users and users can redefine their password for higher security concerns. (2) Random Password: allows you to send a new password via email address. Advanced Settings (1) Maximum users for remote login (on remote page) Users can set up the maximum number of users (max.128) to log in iSCSI Server on remote site at the same time.

    Event iSCSI Server provides different event modes and complete overview to instantly know server information. Event Management also allows users to combine various events and its triggered actions to achieve the security control. 5.6.1 Event Management Event Management allows users to define event and corresponding action. Users can configure multiple types of events for iSCSI Server.

E-Mail action will be triggered once per 20 seconds as the event is happening, which means if an event is lasting for one minute, iSCSI Server will send email 3 times per every 20 seconds.
  • Page 59 SMS stands for Short Message Service. Users can be notified by short message service while the event is triggered. The service is supported by Clickatell and users need to register for the service. Before clicking “OK” button to save the setting, please click “test” button to ensure the account information and cell phone is correct.

    System 5.7.1 Device Information System Information Users can check System Information in this page. Locate Click “Locate”, the iSCSI Server buzzer will be triggered for 3 seconds. It helps the user to locate the iSCSI Server. Enclosure Information Note: Temperature of operation environment for iSCSI Server is 0~40˚C.

    5.7.2 Log System If the hard disk is not installed, the following window will pop up when you click “Log System.” After the hard disk is ready, Log system starts to record the events of the iSCSI Server and to provide basic information for troubleshooting. Five types of log record are offered to check: Hardware Log, System Log, Event Log, Current User and History of User Log.
  • Page 65 Event Log The log information in Event Log includes “Server is connected,” “Server is disconnected”, “UPS Warning” etc. Current User The log information in Current User shows the current users logged in the iSCSI Server with IP address. History of User Log The log information in Historical User Log records any user who has logged in the iSCSI Server.

    Export the log files Users can export all log files from Log System page by clicking “Save” button. The log content will be saved in a zip file. 5.7.3 Save/Load Configuration Configuration Backup enables you to accelerate iSCSI Server deployment as well as to respond quickly to hardware failures and disasters.

    5.7.4 Buzzer/Digital Output Select “Enable” or “Disable” to set Buzzer Notice. Once the buzzer notice is enabled, the buzzer will have beep sound in below situations: 1. One of Redundant Power failed 2. HDD Failed 3. RAID Failed For external devices that are unable to alter its voltage, users can flexibly change initial value (High or Low voltage) on iSCSI Server’s digital output.

    5.7.7 Language iSCSI Server provides different languages for users. Users can configure the language as AUTO or other languages. On local display, users can select a suitable keyboard language for different regional keyboard layouts. By pressing “Alt + Shift”, you can easily type between localized language and English.
