  • Page 6 SAFETY SIGNALS EXTENSION CORDS Use only 3-wire extension cords that have 3-prong grounding plugs and 3-pole receptacles that accept the tool’s plug. When using a power tool at a considerable distance from the power source, use an extension cord heavy enough to carry the current that the tool will draw. An undersized extension cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in a loss of power and causing the motor to overheat.

Position the cord so that it will not get caught on lumber, tools or other obstructions while you are working with a power tool. Failure to do so can result in serious personal injury. NEVER allow children to operate this log splitter. NEVER allow adults lacking proper instructions and understanding to operate this log splitter. KEEP all people and pets a minimum of 25 feet away from you your work area form your work area when operating this log splitter during use.
  • Page 10 OPERATION OF LOG SPLITTER KNOW how to stop the log splitter and disengage the control before operating it. NEVER place hands or feet between the log and splitting wedge during forward or reverse stroke. NEVER straddle or step over the log splitter during operation. NEVER reach or bend over the log splitter to pick up a log.

    HYDRAULIC SAFETY The hydraulic system of your log splitter requires careful inspection along with the mechanical parts. Be sure to replace frayed, kinked, cracked or otherwise damaged hydraulic hoses or hydraulic components. NEVER check for leaks of hydraulic fluid with your hand. Fluid escaping from a small hole can be almost invisible.

    PRE-OPERATIONAL INSTRUCTIONS WARNING: If any parts are damaged or missing, do not operate this tool until the missing parts are replaced. Failure to do so could result in possible personal injury. Do not attempt to modify this tool or create accessories not recommended for use with this tool. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury.

Check the oil level periodically or as necessary if the machine malfunctions indicating a shortage of hydraulic oil in the tank: the ram is running slowly, not enough power output, or the ram can’t extend fully.     OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Plug the unit into a 3-prong outlet. 2. Press the power button to turn the splitter on. 3. Place the log firmly against the wedge. 4. Move control handle down to split the log. Release the handle to retract the ram automatically and begin loading the next log.
  • Page 15 SPLITTING LOGS See Figure 5. Always place logs lengthwise on the work table and resting firmly on the side supports with one end against the wedge. Place logs flat and in the direction of the grain. Never angle the log to split it or place the log crosswise on the splitter.

    MAINTENANCE WARNING: When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. Only the parts shown on the parts list are intended to be repaired or replaced by the customer. All other parts should be replaced at an Authorized Service Center.

    TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM(S) POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION • Switch off the motor and unplug the power • Overload Protection Device is cable. Let motor cool down for 5 min and Motor fails to start disengaged to protect the log restart. If this does not solve the problem, splitter from being damaged.
