INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
400-0003 Conventional Weatherproof
Manual Call Point
General Description
The Conventional Manual Call Point allows for user activation of
the fire alarm system. Once operated the device latches into the
alarm position and requires manually resetting via a special
key. This device is compatible with most Conventional Fire
Alarm Control Panels and comprises a Manual Call Point
(MCP). An optional clear front cover is available if required (Part
No. 23-0187).
This device is not suitable for addressable or Twinflex systems.
Refer to your control panel manufacturer's Installation Manual
for details regarding the 'End Of Line resistor' or other type of 'End Of Line module' required.
This device can be installed on the same zone as most conventional detectors, subject to the recommendations of
both the control panel and detector manufacturer.
Before Installation
The MCP must be installed in compliance with the control panel installation manual. The installation must also
meet the requirements of any local authority. For maximum performance the MCP should be installed in
compliance with BS5839 Pt1 : 2002 + A2 : 2008.
Spacing
Fike recommends spacing of call points in accordance with BS5839. For more specific information regarding MCP
spacing, placement and special applications please refer to BS5839 Pt1 : 2002 + A2 : 2008.
Device Installation
All wiring must be installed in compliance with the recommendations laid out by BS5839 Pt1 : 2002 as well as any
special recommendations documented in the control panel installation manual. The cabling used should be of a
2
2-core 1.5mm
screened, fire resistant type, and is to be wired in the form of a screened 2-core radial circuit
terminating at the End of Line device
Fix the wall mounting plate in a suitable position using the holes / slots. Drill out 20mm holes in back box in the
required positions for cable glands.
Note: Holes must be clean and free of burrs and surface imperfections. This is critical for seal integrity. IP68 cable
glands suitable for cable diameter used must be fitted in accordance with manufacturer's instructions to maintain
the IP rating of the unit.
Fit the back box onto the wall mounting plate and terminate cables. Site cables may be terminated into the
connectors, as shown overleaf. Care should be taken when terminating devices to ensure all cables are correctly
sleeved and connections are secure. Improper connections will prevent a system from responding properly in the
event of a fire.
Please remember that all high voltage testing must be carried out before the installation of the MCP front unit
otherwise damage may be caused. Once all testing has been carried out on the cabling and 'continuity & integrity'
has been proven, the MCP front may be fitted.
Connect the wires from the MCP front into the appropriate terminals in the back box. The MCP front is then fitted
by pushing the front Interface Plate onto the backbox and tightening the four fixing screws, before locating the
upper mounting hook of the MCP front unit onto Interface Plate and then pushing the unit gently home. The single
fixing screw may then be tightened as
required.
