    The DCPS 5400 is the shallow water version with a maximum depth rating of 300 meters. DCPS 5400P is a special version of DCPS 5400 with integrated pressure sensor. The DCPS 5402 is the intermediate water version with a maximum depth rating of 4500 meters, and the DCPS 5403 is the deep-water version with a maximum depth rating of 6000 meters.

It can operate either in narrowband or in broadband mode; the two measurement techniques are described in TD 310, Primer for Doppler Current Profiler.
