RECORDING
When recording important selections, be sure to
make a preliminary test to ensure that the desired
material is being properly recorded.
The ALC (Automatic Record Level Control) cir-
cuit automatically controls the level of the input
signal used for recording.
The VOLUME control may be adjusted with no
effect on the recorded signal. (Variable Sound
Monitor)
Metal and CrO
tapes cannot be used for record-

Recording from the built-in CD player

Set the function switch to CD.
Load the disc to be recorded.

Load a blank cassette into the cassette compart-
ment with the side to be recorded facing up.

Press the RECORD button.

Press the PLAY/PAUSE (

To stop recording:
Press the STOP/EJECT button.
The tape will stop.
Note:
If the STOP( ) or PLAY/PAUSE (
on the CD player is pressed while recording, or
if the CD comes to its end, the tape deck will not
stop.
To record a specific track:
Press the UP (
) or DOWN (

on the CD player until the desired track number is
displayed, then start recording.
Recording from the built-in radio

Set the function switch to TUNER.
Tune in to the station to be recorded.

Load a blank cassette into the cassette compart-
ment with the side to be recorded facing up.

Press the PAUSE button.

Press the RECORD button.

Press the PAUSE button again.
To stop recording:
Press the STOP/EJECT button.
Erasing a recorded tape

Set the function switch to TAPE.

Load a tape into the cassette compartment with
the side to be erased facing up.

Press the RECORD button.

Before plugging in or unplugging the head-
phones, make sure the volume level is reduced.
Be sure your headphones have a 1/8" (3.5 mm)
diameter plug and are between 16 ohms and 50
ohms impedance. The recommended im-
pedance is 32 ohms.
Connect the headphones plug to the PHONES
jack located on the rear of the unit. The speakers
will be automatically disconnected. Adjust the
