The Model 825 Desktop indicator was built with quality and reliability and incorporates the latest in digital technology and innovative features for the weighing industry. Configuration and upgrades can easily be performed in the field, while still maintaining the rigid control the most demanding installations require.

    SITE PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS The Model 825 Desktop Weight Indicator is a precision weight-measuring instrument. As with any precision instrument, it requires an acceptable environment to operate at its peak performance and reliability. This section is provided to assist you in obtaining such an environment.

    SITE PREPARATION REQUIREMENTS, CONT. Electrical Power The Model 825 Desktop Weight Indicator has been designed to operate from 100 to 240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Note that a special order is not required for operation at 230/240 VAC. CAUTION! - To avoid electrical hazards and possible damage to the indicator, DO NOT, under any circumstance, cut, remove, alter, or in any way bypass the power cord grounding prong.

    RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) in a digital weight indicator is weight indication instability during a radio transmission. Cardinal digital weight indicators are designed with special grounding and RFI shielding to achieve a high degree of immunity to common RFI. To maximize the digital weight indicator’s immunity to radio transmissions, follow these guidelines: 1.

    INSTALLATION Before beginning installation of your Model 825 Desktop Weight Indicator, make certain that it has been received in good condition. Carefully remove it from the shipping carton and inspect it for any evidence of damage (such as exterior dents or scratches) that may have taken place during shipment.

    INSTALLATION, CONT. Indicator Power Switch and Gland Connector Layout PUSH-BUTTON POWER SWITCH The push-button power switch located on the rear enclosure above the AC power cord is used to power the indicator on and off. If the indicator is off, pressing this switch will turn the indicator ON.

    INSTALLATION, CONT. Load Cell Cable Connection with RFI Suppression WARNING! Disconnect any external load cell power supply before connecting load cells to the indicator. Failure to do so will result in permanent damage to the indicator. To eliminate RFI, the load cell cable should be routed through the special metallic gland connector, and the shield wire from the load cell cable must be connected to this gland connector for grounding.

To completely isolate the outputs when using an external power source, remove (or place on one pin only) J1 and J2.

When installed, the RS-485 node is terminated indicating the 825 is the last device on the RS-485 bus. If the 825 is not the last device on the RS-485 bus (e.g., it is in the middle of the bus), then it must be un-terminated and jumper J9 must be open (on one pin only or removed).

    SETUP Your 825 indicator has been thoroughly tested and calibrated before being shipped to you. If you received the indicator attached to a scale, calibration is not necessary. If the indicator is being connected to a scale for the first time or recalibration is necessary for other reasons, proceed as indicated.
