OPERATION
1. Turn
on
the
power
by turning
the

VOLUME control clockwise.

3. If you have not connected an external

antenna, fully extend the telescoping
t -
antenna and hold your CB so that the
antenna is vertical.
Note:
Failing
to
fully
extend
the
telescoping antenna reduces the CB's
efficiency, and might damage your CB.

4. Set the POWEP switch to HIGH or LOW.
POWER
For transmitting to nearby units, leave \
tEHL:GWHa
the switch set to LOW. This conserves
battery power by transmitting at a lower
power level. If the other CB is farther
away, or if the person using it complains
of noise, set the switch to HIGH.
5. To transmit, press [PUSH TO TALK]. The
a
PIF OUT meter on the display shows the
output level.
Hold your CB about 2 to 3 inches (5 to 8
cm) from your mouth and speak slowly
ffiE,
(
and clearly in a normal tone of voice.
Note: A built-in automatic modulation
clrcuit..,`, adjusts
the
microphone's
sensitivity to allow for a wide variety of
voice levels.

6. To receive a message, release [PUSH TO
\
TALK]. The SIGNAL meter in the display
shows the signal .level.
7. Adjust
the
VOLUME
control
for
a
©(©
comfortable listening level.
OFF
8. Adjust the SQUELCH control to cut out
(©©
the
background
noise
between
transmissions.
To do this, wait until there is no signal on
the
channel.
Then,
slowly turn the
SQUELCH control clockwise until the
background noise stops.
OFF
Note: Do not turn the SQUELCH too far
clockwise because you might not be
able to hear weak signals.
Using the LIGHT/BATT
(Battery) Button
Press [LIGHT/BATT] to light the dis-
play. You can also confirm the battery
condition by pressing the button. If the
BATT LOW indicator appears, replace
or recharge the batteries.
When you check batteries, only three of
the five segments in the multi-purpose
meter turn on, even when you have
jlly charged the batteries or installed
the new batteries.
