Connecting the cooking system to the Internet

2.1

Establishing the physical connection of the cooking system

First, you need to establish a physical connection to the Internet. Depending on
the network environment, there are several ways to connect the RATIONAL
cooking system to the Internet.

2.1.1 Connection with LAN/Ethernet

Check with your IT and building services department whether a LAN connection
to the Internet via Ethernet is possible. An RJ45 cable and a cable socket con-
nected to the LAN are required for each cooking system to be networked. The
box should either be mounted out of the splash zone or be splash proof (IP67 -
protection against dust and jet sprays from all directions). If a separate LAN
socket is not available for each cooking system, the cables can be connected dir-
ectly to a Layer 2 Ethernet hub or switch outside the splash zone.
The cooking system must now be connected with an Ethernet cable.

2.1.2 Connection with WLAN/WiFi

If an Ethernet connection is not possible, the cooking system can be connected
to a WLAN router/access point using a WiFi adapter. The access point should
provide at least 50 Mbps bandwidth on the WLAN side and sufficient radio cov-
erage at the location of the devices to be networked. It is recommended that the
WLAN router/access point is placed directly in front of or above the cooking
system on the ceiling, never behind the cooking system.
