I have a 2764.951,.721,.955 series faucet. When I pull the diverter knob the spout comes off and water of course comes out of the the faucet body. This just began to happen. How can I resolve this without buying an entirely new product. There is not an O-ring nor a spout nut on this particular assembly.

The provided context does not include specific troubleshooting steps for a diverter knob causing the spout to come off on an American Standard 2764.951 Series faucet.
However, based on the installation instructions, you should:
1. Ensure the spout (1) is correctly installed with a properly seated and undamaged O-ring (2). 2. Confirm the spout nut (3) is fully and securely tightened using an adjustable wrench. 3. Be careful not to scratch the faucet while tightening the spout.
If the spout comes off due to diverter knob operation, check that all threaded connections are secure and components are properly aligned.
If the issue persists, further troubleshooting steps are not provided.
Therefore, based on the context, detailed troubleshooting steps cannot be determined.
