RECTIFIER BOARD TEST PROCEDURE

Service and repair should be performed by only Lincoln Electric factory trained personnel. Unauthorized
repairs performed on this equipment may result in danger to the technician or machine operator and will
invalidate your factory warranty. For your safety and to avoid electrical shock, please observe all safety
notes and precautions detailed throughout this manual. If for any reason you do not understand the test
procedures or are unable to perform the test/repairs safely, contact the Lincoln Electric Service Department
for electrical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed. Call 1-888-935-3877.
TEST DESCRIPTION
This procedure will help determine if the Rectifier Board is functioning properly.
MATERIALS NEEDED
Volt/Ohmmeter
Wiring Diagram
TEST PROCEDURE
1. Remove the input power from the Tomahawk 1500 machine.
2. Perform the Case Cover Removal And Capacitor Discharge Procedure.
3.
Locate the rectifier board. See

Using a volt/ohmmeter, perform the tests outlined in
Diagram.
NOTE: It may be necessary to remove some of RTV compound to gain access to test points.
5.
If the tests results are questionable, label and disconnect all of the leads from the rectifier board
and re-test. See the Wiring Diagram.
6.
If any portion of the test fails, the rectifier board may be faulty.
7.
When testing is complete connect all leads and plugs previously removed. See the Wiring Diagram.
