DISPLAY UNIT INSTALLATION
Locate the Display Unit in
e
position
whore it can
be vicwed
and operated
conveniently but
where
there is
no danger of salt or fresh water spray or
immer s ion.
compass Kafe Distance; The magnetic compass may be affected if the Display
Unit is
placed
too
close,
because
of fields
generated
in
the
radar.
The
compass
safe distance
(approjcimately 0.7m
(2.30feet)
standard compass and
approximately 0.5m (1.64feet) steering compass) must not be disregarded.
The orientation
of
the Display Unit should be so that the
radar screen is
viewed while the operator is facine in the direction of the bow.
This mskes
determination of your position much easier.
The Display Unit is mounted in a trunnion mount.
The raount itself can be
installed
eitlier
overhead,
on
a bulKhead.
or on a tabletop.
The drawing
below gives the recommended clearanees and the mounting dimensions for this
unit.
You can use the raount itself as a teraplate for locating the mounting
screw
holes.
Although
the
unit
is
light-weight
(8kg
(17.6
pounda)),
reinforce the mounting place, if necessary.
The mounting procedure is:
1. Mark the screw locations by using the trunnion as a template.
2-
nT*ilL fiuo pilot holos for the trunnion.
3. Instail the trunnion using the screws supplied as the accessories.
4. Fit the knob bolts, rubber washers and washers to the display unit.
5. Instail the display unit in the trunnion. Tighten the knob bolts securely.
As was stated before,
make sure you allow enough clearance bolh to get to
the connectors behind the unit and to allow you to get your hånds in on both
sides to loosen or tighten the mounting knobs.
Make sure you leave at least
a
foot
or
so
of
"service
loop"
of
cablcs behind
Lhe unit so that It can be
pulled forward for servicing or easy removal of the connectors.
