Open the packet containing the
modern cable. Save the instruc-
tions for use later in this manual.
The modern cable consists of 2
cables . The beige cable connects
the Tandy 102's built-in modem
to the telephone line . This con-
nectio n lets yo u autodial
telephone numbers or com-
mu nicate with other computers
over the telephone line. Connect
the beige cable as shown:
The silver cable connects the
telephone unit to the telep ho ne
line. This connection lets you use
the telephone unit in the normal
way . Connect the silver cable as
shown:

Set the DlR/ ACP switch to DIR
and the ORIG/ ANS switch to
ORIG:
The DIR setting tells TELCOM
that the built-in modem is direct-
ly connected to the telephone.
The O RIG setting tells TELCOM
that the built-in modem will be
o riginating, rather than answer-
ing, the call.
Enter TELCOM. TELCOM ' s
bottom line gives the meaning of
its fu nction keys. As with the
other programs, you can use
c LABEL
l to
turn
on and off this
display.
