4 Hardware Installation/Mounting

This section describes hardware installation/mounting of the Auxiliary Driver Cam on a vehicle.
The installation distance from the lens to the face is 50 to100 cm. The installation height of the
lens should be lower than that of the driver's face. Otherwise, the DMS cannot effectively
distinguish whether the driver closes eyes, reducing the accuracy of relevant alarms.
The following figures show that the Auxiliary Driver Cam is mounted on the Left A Pillar of the
vehicle facing the driver. At this position, this camera will focus on the driver's face and detect
any distractions and unsafe driving practices.
Vehicles have air bags in the A/B Pillar, where the Auxiliary Driver Cam cannot be mounted to
since doing so would prevent the air bags from deploying as intended. Auxiliary Driver Cam may
or may not be able to attach to the windshield directly beside the A/B Pillar. Some may have to
be mounted on the dash. The type of mount varies from vehicle to vehicle.
