INTRODUCTION
1.1 GENERAL
1.1.1 The Simpson Models 604 and 605 Series 2 MULTI-
CORDERS (hereinafter referred to as the Models 604 and 605 or
simply as the Instrument), are accurate, compact, measuring In-
struments combining the advantages of portable multi-range
measuring instruments with those of recording devices. The two
models are mechanically alike, but differ electrically. Model 605
Series 2 MULTICORDER uses a built-in transformer for measu-
rement of superimposed DC and AC components by a current or
voltage measurement, and also provides more ranges than the
Model 604 Series 2 MULTICORDER.
1.1.2 The Models 604 and 605 Series 2 MULTICORDERS are
simple and rugged in construction, with a new modern look and
utilizing latest technology in circuit design. Inkless recording, by
use of fast sequential impressions on pressure sensitive strip chart
paper, eliminate the problems of pen and ink maintenance. The
Instruments permit instant visual observation of measured values.
A special device marks the range and measured value.
1.1.3 Тһе Models 604 and 605 Series 2 MULTICORDERS fea-
ture a high-torque meter movement with a shock-resistant, taut-
band suspension, moving-coil system. Electrical protection of the
Instrument is provided by protective diodes and fuses to prevent
high currents from damaging the indicating mechanism and the
measuring circuits.
