Troubleshooting

Problem
The oil-temperature light is on and the
engine rpm is low.
The oil-pressure light is on and the engine
rpm is low.
The Malfunction-Indicator Light (MIL)
comes on.
The starter does not crank.
Possible Cause
1. The engine-control unit has limited
engine rpm, known as "limp" mode.

2. There is old gas in the gas tank.
3. The fuel-shutoff valve is not open
completely.
4. The air cleaner is dirty.
5. The battery is not charged.
6. Incorrect fuel filters are being used or

control unit (ECU) and fuel injectors
are not secured properly.
8. The battery has low voltage.
9. The fuse is blown.
1. The blade control switch (PTO) is
engaged.
2. The parking brake is not on.
3. The drive levers are not in neutral lock
position.
4. The operator is not seated.
5. The battery is dead.
6. The electrical connections are corroded
or loose.

Corrective Action
1. Check the engine-oil level. If the level
is above the "add" line, contact an
Authorized Toro Service Dealer.

engine-oil level. If the level is above

2. Use new gas.
3. Open the fuel-shutoff valve.
4. Make sure that the air cleaner and
precleaner are clean. Replace if
necessary.
5. Charge or replace the battery.

8. Ensure that a good 12 volt battery is
being used and is fully charged.
9. Check and replace any blown fuses.
1. Move the blade control switch (PTO)
to disengaged.
2. Set the parking brake.
3. Ensure that the drive levers are in the
neutral lock position.
4. Sit on the seat.
5. Charge the battery.
6. Check the electrical connections for
good contact.
7. Replace the fuse.
8. Contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
