RADIO RECEPTION
е Switch on the set with POWER switch (Э.
e Set the MODE selector (5) to RADIO.
e Adjust the sound with the controls VOLUME (3) and
GRAPHIC EQUALIZER (3) and the DBB bass button (6).
e Selectthe wave band using the BAND SELECTOR button.
The radio display @) shows the selected wave band 'FM',
'MW (Medium Wave), 'LW (Long Wave) or SW (Short Wave)
and the frequency in 'MHz' (for FM and SW) or 'kHz' (for MW
and LW). (SW and LW not on all versions).
For FM, pull out the telescopic aerial. To improve
FM-reception, incline and turn the aerial (fig. 3a). Reduce
its length if the FM-signal is too strong (very close to a
transmitter).
For AM/MW and LW (Medium and Long Wave), the set is
provided with a built-in aerial, so there is no need to use
the telescopic aerial. The aerial can be directed by tuming
the whole set (fig. 3b).
For Short Wave (SW), the telescopic aerial must be pulled
out and placed in the vertical position. To improve
SW-reception, vary the length of the aerial.
e Tune automatically, manually or by means of the PRESET-
buttons 45 to a radio station.
Automatic tuning
e Keep the FREQUENCY button «f or
pressed until the
displayed frequency keeps on changing; then release the
button. The receiver stops when finding a strong transmitter.
e If the transmitter found is not the desired one, simply
repeat this operation.
Manual tuning
Manual
tuning is useful when
you already know the
frequency of the desired transmitter (e.g. from your pro-
gramme guide).
e Keep the FREQUENCY button « or |» pressed until you
approach the required frequency.
e Then release the FREQUENCY button and press it again
quickly and briefly: then the displayed frequency stops.
e Then press FREQUENCY «ог» briefly each time. In this
way the frequency is changed step-by-step until finally the
right frequency has been reached. One step is 0.05 MHz
(50 kHz) on FM, 9 or 10 kHz on MW, 1 kHz on LW and 5 kHz
on SW.
e When the word STEREO appears in the radio display (3),
youare receiving a FM-stereo transmitter. A disturbing noise,
due to a weak FM-stereo signal, can be suppressed by
pressing the STEREO button once. The word STEREO will
then disappear and you will hear (and record) the FM
programme in mono.
e The radio retums to STEREO when operating:
the STEREO button;
the FREQUENCY a > buttons;
the PRESET <> buttons;
the BAND SELECTOR button;
the MODE selector (5).

PREFERRED TRANSMITTERS - PRESET
You can to store the frequencies of up to 20 transmitters in
the memory. The 20 PRESET memory locations (0'...19) are
shown on the right-hand side of the radio display (1).
Storing transmitter frequencies
1. Select the desired wave band using the BAND SELEC-
TOR button.
Using the FREQUENCY -«» buttons, tune either auto-
matically or manually to the frequency to be stored.
Programme guides often contain a líst of transmitter
frequencies. If the frequency shown has already been
stored, its PRESET location (0'..19') appears on the
right-hand side of the radio display (9.
. H you want to store the frequency shown,
press the
STORE button; the word PROG appears on the display (і).
. Now, select the desired PRESET location (0'...19) by
pressing one of the PRESET buttons 4 > until the required
PRESET number appears on the display.
. Then press the STORE button again; the word PROG
disappears and the frequency is now stored in the
memory.»
