Adding isolation to a temperature sensor defeats the purpose of the measurement and for optimal accuracy a sensor needs to be in close touch with the surface. The TMP160 system solves the isolation problem by transmitting the measured temperature by a sensor over a fiber optic cable.

Remember that the temperature sensor and the TMP160 emitter box are at the same potential This product is not intended for detection of hazardous voltages. The TMP160 emitter box and sensor are not meant to be used as a handheld unit CAUTION Do not use in wet or explosive atmospheres.
  • Page 4: Compatibility

COMPATIBILITY The TMP160 probe is a transducer that produces a voltage proportional to the measured temperature. It requires a voltage reading instrument to display the actual temperature. Either a DMM, oscilloscope, data recorder or any other similar device can be used. Probe receiver Ω...

2.5mm jack. 1. Connect the TMP160 receiver to a USB power supply with the supplied USB cable 2. Connect the TMP160 receiver to a voltage reading device using either the BNC or banana plug cables 3. Place and secure the emitter box (for example with cable ties) near the area where the temperature is to be measured.
  • Page 6 The emitter box is not a hand-held device TAKING READINGS There are 2 versions of the TMP160 probe depending on if the voltage is proportional to the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit. The voltage in milivolts is always 10x times the temperature (in ºC or ºF).

As such the TMP160 does not have any analog adjustments to modify its output so it is not user adjustable. Saker uses a tool that artificially generates these codes to test the validity of the count vs output voltage conversion.
