18. Although your tractor is lubricated at the factory,
it is advisable to check each fitting on the machine
before starting. Therefore, follow Lubrication In-
structions below.
IMPORTANT
The engine on your tractor is shipped com-
pletely dry. Before starting the engine be sure
to fill the crank case, gear reduction imit and
oil filter with the recommended lubricants spe-
cified in the engine manual. Further instruc-
tions pertaining to the engine, its care and
lubrication are contained in the engine man-
ual; these should be studied very carefully.
19. LUBRICATION. Before operating your Gardener,
and each 8 to 10 hours of operation, lubricate the
following points:
Jackshaft tie bracket R. and L.
Clutch throwout fork R. and L.
Clutch throwout lever R. and L.
Bearing housing
Drawbar rollers
Always wipe lubrication fittings before and after
lubricating. Use a good grade of pressure grease
and inject grease until it begins to ooze from the
bearings.
EACH EXTERNAL CLUTCH MEMBER has an oil
reservoir which should be checked and filled every
8 to 10 hours of operation.
Occasionally inject a few drops of oil between the
hub of the internal clutch member and the clutch
spring. Do not allow oil to drip on clutch surfaces.
All moving parts such as clutch lever bearings,
instant hitch latch, drawbar pin, etc., should be oiled
periodically.
WHEEL HUBS, which are equipped with Timken
bearings, are packed ready for use. These wheel
bearings should be washed out and repacked with
a good grade of wheel bearing grease once each
year.
CHAIN should be run dry. The chain used on the
Huski Gardener Tractor is a precision roller chain
with all parts fitting very closely. Oiling the chain,
particularly if the tractor is being used in dry soils
causes the fine abrasive dirt to adhere to the chain.
This acts like a grinding compound and causes the
chain and sprockets to wear excessively.
At the end of the season the chains should be r e -
moved and washed in kerosene, dried, and reas -
sembled.
20. TIRE PRESSURES. Tire pressures should be
maintained at:
9 pounds in 4:00 x 12 tires
6 pounds in 6-12 tires
The tractor is shipped with the tires inflated to the
above recommended pressure. When checking the
liquid filled tire, the valve must be on top.
The solution used is 2 pounds of calcium chloride
to one gallon of water which will withstand freezing
