Fiber Position Adjustment

How to Replace the Shims

The height difference between the left and right side is adjusted by changing the thickness
of the shim under the insert base of the left clamp. If cleaving results are not stable or the
height difference between the left and right fibers after cleaving is large, change the
thickness of the shims to adjust the fiber height.
The 200μm-thick shim is installed under the left clamp from the factory.
The 30μm, 50μm, and 100μm shims are enclosed as standard accessory items.
Follow the procedures below to replace the shims:
1. Remove the insert from the left clamp.
2. Remove the screws from the insert base. (circled in red below)
Be careful not to drop the screw inside the cleaver.
Remove the insert base and install a shim with the appropriate thickness.
3.
Ensure that there is no curve on the shim.
Confirm that there is no dust or dirt on the shim.
4. Re-install the insert base and tighten the screws.
