ATTENTION
!
If the equipment is used in a manner not specified in this manual,
the protection provided by the equipment may be impaired.
Locate an appropriate mounting panel or enclosure near the protected
device.
Drill four mounting holes (see Figure 3).
Secure the 825-PR12D using the four bolts and locknuts. M5 pan
head screws with lock nuts or 10-32 pan head screws with lock nuts
are recommended.
Ground the 825-PR12D by connecting Terminal 26 to an appropriate
electrical ground.
Connect as many as 12 RTDs to the 825-PR12D terminal blocks (see
Figure 2).
The 825-PR12D supports shielded three-lead RTDs, providing
terminals for +, –, and return (RTN) leads. The return lead provides
a means for lead-resistance compensation. For best
lead-resistance compensation, all three leads should be the same
length and wire gauge. Maximum lead resistance is 25 ohms. Use

the leads. Belden 8771 or similar cable is recommended. Cable
shield should be connected to ground at the 825-PR12D (use the
RTN terminal for shield grounding).
Performance to all specifications is guaranteed only when
using shielded RTD cables (twisted leads) no longer than
10 meters.
While RTD cables longer than 10 meters can be used,
conformance to IEC 60255-22-1 and EN 61000-4-5 is no
longer assured.
Record the type and location of each RTD in Table 1.
Connect the 825-PR12D to the 825-P Motor Relay (using a 62.5/125
μm fiber-optic cable with ST connectors) between the 825-PR12D
fiber-optic TX output and the 825-P fiber-optic input labeled RX RTD
MODULE.
Use a simplex 62.5/125 μm multimode fiber-optic cable with ST
connectors at both ends. The fiber-optic cable should be similar to
Corning 001K38-31141-8 or General Cable CT0011SNU.
The 825-P and the 825-PR12D use 820 nm rated,
ST connector-based, fiber-optic ports.
Set and enable the RTD measurements according to the 825-P setting
instructions in 825-P Motor Relay Application on page 8.
