Features & Benefits Transmit 12 RTD-based temperature measurements as far as 500 meters using inexpensive fiber-optic cable with the 825-PR12D RTD Scanner. The 825-PR12D connects directly to the 825-P Motor Relay using ST fiber-optic connectors built into each device. The fiber-optic link eliminates expensive cable pulls and provides electrical noise immunity and ground isolation.

Installation Installation Physical Location Proper placement of the 825-PR12D helps make certain that you receive years of trouble-free operation. You can mount the 825-PR12D near the protected device, in a sheltered indoor environment (a building or an enclosed cabinet) that does not exceed the temperature and humidity ratings for the RTD scanner.

Ground the 825-PR12D by connecting Terminal 26 to an appropriate Step 4. electrical ground. Step 5. Connect as many as 12 RTDs to the 825-PR12D terminal blocks (see Figure 2). The 825-PR12D supports shielded three-lead RTDs, providing terminals for +, –, and return (RTN) leads. The return lead provides a means for lead-resistance compensation.

Connect ac line power to the 825-PR12D via one of the following terminal combinations: ➢ 120 Vac–Terminal 23 is Hot and Terminal 24 is Neutral ➢ 240 Vac–Terminal 23 is Hot and Terminal 25 is Neutral The green ENABLED LED illuminates when ac power is applied and the internal diagnostics are complete.
  • Page 8 The 825-P uses the overload protection element to accurately track the heating effects of overloads and unbalance current. Combining the 825-PR12D and the 825-P enhances this list of protection features by adding remote RTD-based thermal protection.
  • Page 9 The relay will indicate the temperatures of each connected, healthy RTD. If the relay reports that an RTD is open or shorted, or if the temperature reading is wrong, verify the wiring at the 825-PR12D. Also verify that the RTD type connected to that input matches the RTD type setting.
