The
Keyboard
Send-Rece

(KSR)
unit is a
Prin
ter
used
by itself.
It
can be used
as
an
elec
tric
typewriter,
or
it
can
transmit to or
r
ec
eive messa

es from
a
remote unit.
The
Auto
matic
Send-
Re
ceive
unit
(ASR) i
s a
KS~
unit conn
ected
to
a
desk
having
Paper
Tape
Punch
and Reade
r

its.
HOW TO TURN
ON YOUR PRINTER
Since
the
KSR
a
nd
ASR
unit
s
are
turned
on
differently,
instruct
i
ons
for both are
list
ed
below.
To
turn on a
KSR
unit you
should
go
throu

Then
you
should

either
the
LOCAL
or
ON
LINE
pushbutton on
the
control panel
to
turn on
the
motor
.
When either
pushbutton
i
s
pressed
,
it
should
li
gh
t
and
the
STANDBY
pushbutton should go out.
To turn on the ASK unit you
shoul
d
go through
the following stepsl

the
Desk
power
cord
is

d
into
a
standard wall
outlet~

Press the
Desk
Power Switch to the
ON
position. This switch is at
the
top
right
front
of
the
Desk kneeho
le.
(See Figure 3).
3. When the switch
is turned
on,
there
should
be
an
audible
h
igh
p
itched
beep and the
STANDBY
light
on
the
control
panel
should
light.
If it
does
not light, check
the
Printer
'
s
Power
Switch
located
at
the
right
r
ea
r
of the Printer.
Ordinarily
the
Printer's Power Switch should be
left
in
the
ON
pos
ition
because
the
Desk
Power
Switch
controls
the
Prin
ter
power
a
s
well
as
the
Punch
and
Reader
.
