TermiNet 300 PRINTER
WHAT IT IS
Th e TermiNet 300 Printer is a

t elep rint er. This means it may oe used to
type messages that will be sent to another
loc ation . These ~essaqes are usually sent
over tele phone lines. For instance, you might
type a letter here that simultaneously would
aopear on another TermiNet 300 Printer in
some distant pl ace

Chicago or New York.
A TermiNet 300 Printer may be thought of as
an electric typewriter with an ability to be
~onnected to other remotely located electric
typewriter s .
One

error is to think of the TermiNet
300 Printer as a
co~puter;
it is not in any
way a computer , although it is often used to
talk to a computer.
An illus tration of the versatility of the
Termi Net 300 Printer is demonstrated on this
and the following pages. The main body of the
text for this publ ic at ion was prepared using
a Termi Net 300 Prin ter witn a computer. The
comouter was used to justify the right hand
margin s as well as to perform some editing
functions. For convenience , the original copy
was reduced, and transferred to long-run
printing olates.
IT'S EASY TO USE
The TermiNet 300 Printer is easy to use
because it is like an electric typewriter.

One hint about touch typing--since
there are more

the normal letter keys than there
are on a standard typewriter, it
seems to be a

beginners, to want to hold their
hands one space too far to the
left. Don 't worry, you will get
over this in the first few minutes .
Up to this time I have been referring to the
TermiNet 300 Printer by its full name;
however, for the rest of this publication , I
will, in most cases, call it by the easier
name "Print er" .
THERE ARE THREE PRINTER CONFIGURATIONS
The Three printer configurations are l
1.
Receive Only
2. Keyboard Send-Receive
3 . Automatic Send-Receive
The Receive Only (RO) unit has no keyboard;
after installation it is normally controlled
only from the remote (sending) location.
Therefore it does not need an "operator" as
such; consequently . this type of printer will
not be mentioned in detail in this
publication.
