WARNING: Inadequate extension cables can be
dangerous. Extension cable, plug and socket
must be of watertight construction and inten-
ded for outdoor use.
The connections (plugs and sockets) should be kept dry and
off the ground.
For increased electrical safety use a Residual Current Device
(RCD) with a tripping current of not more than 30 mA. Al-
ways check your RCD every time you use it.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a
Bosch Service Centre.
Use only extension cords, cables, leads and cable reels that
comply with EN 61242/IEC 61242 or IEC 60884-2-7 and
are of type H05VV-F or H05RN-F.
When using cable drums, these must be completely un-
reeled.

Starting Operation
Always place the machine on firm level ground. During
u
operation, do not tilt or move.
The motor will coast after switching off!
u
Remove earth from roots. Foreign material such as stones,
glass, metals, fabrics or plastics must not enter the chute as-
sembly (7). Otherwise the cutting system (10) may be dam-
aged.
The chute assembly (7) must be empty.
Troubleshooting
The following chart lists problem symptoms, possible causes and corrective action, if your machine does not operate properly.
If these do not identify and correct the problem, contact your service agent.
Bosch Power Tools
Starting (see figure F and I)
To start the shredder, rotate the On/Off switch (3) from pos-
ition "OFF" to position "START". Holding the On/Off
switch (3) in that "START" position for about 2 seconds,
then release it. The On/Off switch (3) moves to position
"ON" automatically. The machine should start.
The shredder will not start if the On/Off switch (3) is pushed
in while starting. Let the On/Off switch (3) spring back out.
Turn the On/Off switch (3) back to "OFF" and start again.
If you hold the On/Off switch (3) in position "START" for too
long, the shredder will stop. Turn the On/Off switch (3) back
to "OFF" and start again.
For safety reasons, the shredder will not start unless the se-
curing knob (2) of the chute assembly (7) is fully tightened.
Stopping (see figure H)
To stop the machine, turn the On/Off switch (3) anticlock-
wise to "OFF". Alternatively, and in an emergency, simply

press the On/Off switch (3) inwards. You will then have to

period, the machine can be switched on again. If the shred-

plug, and clear the blockages. Continuous overloading and
clogging of the motor ventilation slots can cause the thermal
motor overload protection to trip. Clean the ventilation grid
and turn the shredder off for several minutes to allow it to
cool down. The thermal motor overload protection will reset
automatically. However, the shredder will not start again un-
til you turn the On/Off switch back to "OFF" and repeat the
starting procedure.
Advice on Shredding
Branches become harder to shred depending on the type,
age and dryness of the wood.
For best results, shred fresh branches soon after they have
been cut.
Soft garden waste should be shredded in smaller loads, par-
ticularly when wet. Any blockages can be avoided by inter-
mittently shredding branches.
