Chapter 5: Radio Programming through CPS
5.3.1
Bandwidth Select
This feature is only applicable to the Canada models.
The default setting for Bandwidth Select feature depends on the specific frequency and channel. Some
frequencies have selectable channel spacing and must match with the other radios for optimum audio quality.
All US models are compliant with the narrowbandwidth FCC regulation.
5.3.2
Time-Out Timer
Time-Out Timer allows you to set a fixed duration for a transmission before the transmission is automatically
terminated by pressing the PTT button.
5.3.3
Power Select
Power Select feature allows you to select between high and low transmission power per frequency in each
channel.
You can toggle the power levels between 1 W and 2 W.
NOTE: Some frequencies may have FCC transmit power limit that restrict you from setting the
frequencies to a higher power level.
5.3.4
Call Tones
Call Tones feature allows you to transmit an audible tone to other radios on the same channel to alert them
that you are about to talk or to alert them without speaking.
Program Call Tones feature to Side button 1 (SB1) or Side button 2 (SB2). One of the three pre-recorded
tones is selected.
5.3.5
Scramble Code
Scramble Code feature makes transmissions sound garbled to anyone listening without the same code.
The default code value is OFF.
To change the scramble code during radio's normal operation, program Call Tones feature to Side button 1
(SB1) or Side button 2 (SB2).
5.3.6
Reverse Burst
Reverse Burst feature eliminates unwanted noise (squelch tail) during loss of carrier detection.
You can select 180 or 240 to match other radios.
The default value is 180.
