ENGINE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING!
All gas engines produce carbon monoxide. Engine exhaust is very dangerous. Carbon monoxide is
a deadly, colorless, odorless, tasteless gas which could be present even though you cannot see or
smell it. In an enclosed area with no ventilation this exhaust can linger for days. If inhaled at any
level, this gas can cause drowsiness, headaches, nausea, dizziness, confusion and even death. If
you experience any of these symptoms, immediately seek fresh air and medical attention.
SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR PREVENTING POISONING
Never run the unit's engine indoors as carbon monoxide can reach dangerous levels quickly.
Never use the unit where exhaust fumes can be pulled indoors.
Never use the unit in a poorly ventilated outdoor area such as a large hole or hilly terrain.
Never use the unit in an enclosed or partially enclosed area such as a tent, a basement or
carport.
Always run the unit with the exhaust and muffler pointed away from the operator.
Always make sure that anyone who is with you stays well away from the unit and never point
the muffler towards anyone.
GASOLINE FIRES AND FUEL SAFETY
Both fuel and the vapors are dangerous, highly flammable and can ignite easily. Fuel fires spread
quickly and are explosive. Never use fuel near sparks or open flames. Never use fuel around clothes
dryers, hot water heaters, space heaters, electric motors, etc. Never smoke around open fuel
sources or while re-fueling the unit.
PREVENTION OF GASOLINE FIRES
Never fill the fuel tank indoors. Always fill the tank outside and in a well-ventilated area.
Never fill the fuel tank while the engine is running. Always allow the unit to cool down before
filling the fuel tank.
Never drain the fuel from the unit in enclosed areas.
Always wipe up any excess or spilled fuel and allow time for the fuel to evaporate before
starting the unit.
Always make sure the fuel cap is secure before starting the unit. Never start the unit without
the fuel cap.
To prevent a fire or an explosion, use only non-metal, portable fuel containers approved by the
UL or the ASTM.
Never pour fuel from the unit's fuel tank.
An adult should always fill the fuel tank and only an adult should operate the unit.
Never allow anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs to fill the fuel tank or operate the
unit.
