MANUAL START / COLD ENGINE (continued from previous page)
5. Squeeze the throttle control with the right hand. Grasp the starter rope with your left hand and
pull out slowly until the tension becomes slightly harder. Without letting the rope retract, pull
the starter rope with a rapid, forearm stroke. Allow the rope to return to its original position.
Repeat this step until the engine engages and allow the rope to return to its original position.
a. NOTE: If the engine fails to engage after 5 to 6 pulls, stop pulling, press the primer bulb
1 time and repeat the process.
6. Once the engine has engaged and has started running, move the choke lever to the HALF-
CHOKE position until the engine runs smoothly.
a. NOTE: HALF-CHOKE position is defined as being half way between CHOKE and RUN.
7. Once the engine is running smoothly, move the lever to the RUN position and engage the
throttle to the desired speed.
8. To STOP the engine, move the rocker switch to the OFF position.
MANUAL START / WARM ENGINE
1. Move the choke lever to the CHOKE position.
a. NOTE: In the CHOKE position, always move the lever to the farthest CHOKE position
possible.
2. Continue by repeating Cold Engine / Manual Starting beginning with step 4.
MANUAL START / HOT ENGINE
1. Begin with Step 4 of Cold Engine / Manual Starting.
2. If engine has not started, refer to Step 1 of Warm Engine / Manual Starting.
