3.1.1 
Perform a function check with the gas test kit
Use the gas test kit to quickly verify the functionality of the detector without having to
remove the environment shield, if fitted. The gas test kit has an opening in the front
between the gas nozzles that allows for the operator to see the indicator showing the
detector's status.

Perform a function check using the gas nozzle
This procedure is used for gas testing detectors that are mounted in a hard to reach
location.
Prerequisites
The kit consists of a gas nozzle on the nose of the detector. In between the gas nozzle and
gas test box, there is a gas pipe to allow for the gas to flow from the gas test box and into
the detector through the gas nozzle.
