BASIC OPERATIONS
MEMORIZING STATIONS
(Tuner section operation)_
(See Fig. \B\)
Presetting
Up to 24 FM/AM stations can be memorized at random.
1. Press FREQ/STA button to select frequency mode.
• FM or AM frequency indication appears on the display.
2. Select the desired band with the BAND selector button.
3. Tune into the broadcast station you want to memorize.
4. Press the MEMORY button.
5. Select the channel (station call no.) you want to memorize
with the TUNING + (up) or — (down) button within five
seconds.
6. Press the MEMORY button within five seconds.
• During memory operation, after showing a flashing channel
indication, it shows the frequency.
7. Repeat steps 2 through 6 to memorize up to 24 stations.
BRECEPTION USING PRESET TUNING
(Tuner section operation)_
1. Switch to the station mode with the FREQ/STA button.
'—ctT appears on the display.
2. During channel indication display (2 to 3 seconds], select the
desired channel with the TUNING + (up) or — (down) button.
The remote control unit's TUNER STATION + or — buttons can be
used in the same way. At this time, there is no need to press the
FREQ/STA button.
Channel memory
The preset station memory will retain its contents even when the
power switch is turned off or the power cord disconnected, so long
as the power cord is not left disconnected for more than a few days.
Last station memory
The last received AM and FM stations remain stored despite input
selector and/or POWER switching. To recall, use BAND selector
button.
TAPE PLAY
(Cassette deck operation)
Tapes may be played back in Deck I or Deck II.
While a tape is playing back, make sure the other deck is not playing.
If you press the ► (PLAY) button on both Deck I and Deck II, playback
sound is from Deck II.
1. Press U/± (STOP/EJECT) button, and load a recorded tape.
2. Set the DOLBY NR switch to the same position used for
recording (Except for Australian and multi-voltage models of
XR-J11).
3. Press ► (PLAY) button.
4. Adjust VOLUME control on the amplifier section.
5. To stop playback, press ■/— (STOP/EJECT) button.
During operation of one of the decks, do not operate the
other deck, except during relay play operation._
Auto Stop Mechanism
• The mechanism stops automatically when the end of tape is
reached.
Relay playback
Relay playback from Deck II to Deck I is possible.
1. Start playback on Deck II.
2. Press the H (PAUSE) button on Deck I.
3. Press the ► (PLAY) button on Deck I.
When Deck II finishes playing, Deck I automatically starts playing.
Relay play from Deck I to Deck II is not possible.
RECORDING ONTO A CASSETTE TAPE
(Cassette deck operation)
Material can be recorded on Deck II only. Recording is not possible
on Deck I.
1. Press ■/£ (STOP/EJECT) button, and load the tape for
recording into Deck II.
• Check to see that the accidental erasure prevention tabs are not
broken off.
• Make sure that there is no tape slack.
2. Set DOLBY NR switch to the desired position. (Except for
Australian and multi-voltage models of XR-J11.)
3. Use the input selector button on the amplifier section to
select the recording source.
