    BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE All HECHT products equipped with petrol engine are tested to meet the very strict Note: requirements for the permissible exhaust emission limits. In production plant engines are tested and adjusted during 8 minutes period.

    For general use all year round, we recommend SAE 10W-30 HECHT 4T. • For general use in winter it is recommended to use SAE 5W-40, HECHT 5W-40. • Choose optimal oil viscosity that match the ambient temperature at which you are going to operate the machine.

    ENGINE PRE-OPERATION CHECK For your safety, and to maximize the service life of your equipment, it is very important to take a few moments to check the engine condition before operating. If you have some doubts, don´t start the machine. Contact our authorized service. ALWAYS CHECK THE FOLLOWING ITEMS BEFORE YOU START THE ENGINE: Total control: Make sure there are no leaks, find loose or damaged parts the equipment powered engine.

    • Directly coupled device components, f. e. blades, impellers, pulleys, sprockets, etc., must be securely fastened (they move when starting). Before starting release coupling lever.     • When sweeping uneven terrain, reduce speed to prevent the machine from "bouncing", which could result in loss of control. • In the operating mode, make always sure that the cooling and combustion air is exhausted without interruption (leaves may block the exhaust channels). Flue gas exhaust without interruption should be ensured, too.

    BRUSH HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT • The brush wears out in use and its diameter decreases. Therefore, it‘s necessary to adjust the brush height. • The adjustment is made by changing the height of the guide wheels. Loosen the side wing nut (fig. 17A). The first oil change should be carried out after 5 operating hours, when operating Note: under heavy load another change should be done after 25 operating hours.

    AIR FILTER INSPECTION AND CLEANING CAUTION! The air filter must be serviced (cleaned) after 25 hours normal working. Service more frequently when operating the machine in extremely dusty areas. DETERMINE THE TYPE INSTALLED ON YOUR ENGINE AND SERVICE AS FOLLOWS. Shut off the engine before performing any service on the machine.

    Measure the electrode gap with a suitable gauge (fig. 25A). The correct gap (fig. 25B) is listed in the Specifications. If adjustment is needed, correct the gap by carefully bending the side electrode. Install the spark plug carefully, by hand, to avoid cross-threading. After the spark plug is seated, tighten with the proper size spark plug wrench to compress the washer.

    FUEL STORAGE WARNING! Fuel can only be stored in designated cans /containers. When stored in other cans / containers, pollution or a petrol explosion may occur. • Never store engine in vicinity of stoves, ovens, water heaters with pilot light, contingently other devices which can produce sparks.
