CHUTE DIRECTIONAL CONTROL At least once a season, the joystick should be lubricated with a multipurpose automotive waterproof grease. AUGER SHAFT At least once a season, remove the shear pins (fig. 31A) on auger shaft. Spray lubricant inside shaft, around the spacers. Also lubricate the flange bearings found at either end of the shaft. GEAR CASE The auger gear case has been filled with grease and sealed at the factory.
FASTENING SCREWS OF SNOW BLOWER (SNOWBLOWER = OPTIONAL ACCESSORY) The spiral is fastened to the drive shaft by shear bolts (fig. 31A). This bolts can be broken while strong resistance of spiral caused by e.g. wedged stones, metal pipe or bar or similar objects. The snow blower is protected hereby from more serious damage.
AIR FILTER A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor and cause poor engine performance. Inspect the air filter each time the engine is operated. You will need to clean the air filter more frequently if you operate the engine in very dusty areas. CAUTION! Operating the engine without an air filter, or with a damaged air filter, will allow dirt to enter the engine, causing rapid engine wear.
For good performance, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits. Shut off the engine before performing any service on the machine. Wait till all moving parts are completely stopped. Disconnect the cap (fig. 35A) from the spark plug, and remove any dirt from the spark plug area.
Reinstall the drain bolt. With the engine in a level position, fill to the upper limit mark on the dipstick with the recommended oil. CAUTION! Running the engine with a low oil level can cause engine damage. Reinstall the oil filler cap/dipstick securely. C Wash your hands with soap and water after handling used oil.
DRAINING THE FUEL TANK AND CARBURETOR WARNING! Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive, and you can be burned or seriously injured when handling fuel. • Stop engine, allow it to cool completely and keep heat, sparks, and flame away. • Refuel only outdoors.
Take care not to drop or strike the machine when transporting. Machine should be secured on the vehicle by strap belts. Tie down the machine securely in an upright position while transporting. Take care not to strike the machine when transporting. Do not place objects on the machine. STORAGE C The engine must have completely cooled down before storing the machine.
ADDING A GASOLINE STABILIZER TO EXTEND FUEL STORAGE LIFE For engine protection use Fuel stabiliser which is available at petrol stations. When adding a gasoline stabilizer, fill the fuel tank with fresh gasoline. If only partially filled, air in the tank will promote fuel deterioration during storage. If you keep a container of gasoline for refueling, be sure that it contains only fresh gasoline.
• Store minimum quantity of the fuel which you can use to 14 days. Do not use fuel older than 14 days. DEVICE-SPECIFIC STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS Store the machine in a dry, clean and frost-protected place, out of reach of unauthorized persons.
