TROUBLE
SHOOTING
GUIDE
Ht trouble with the TC-788-4 occurs, make the following simple
checks to determine whether a professional enginger's skill is
required or not. Quite often h i - f i equipment fails to work proper
ly because of incorrectly made system connections or operating
errors. If the trouble persists after you have made these checks,
consult your nesrest Superscope Service Station.
Before entering the list of specified troubles below, first pay
attention to the following fundamental points:
'The AC power cord must be connected firmly to the recorder
and a wall outlet.
#Don't mix up inputs and outputs, front and back, left and right
'of the connecting cords. (Refer to page 4}. All connections
must be done firmly.
'sThe recordar controls should be left In the positions described
'on page 10 during normal operation.
'¢The amplifier volume, bolance, mode, function, input selector,
'and monitor switch settings should be dona correctly. Refer to
'the instruction manual of the amplifier.

is no slack
In the tope and the tension arms are in operating position,
Check the PAUSE lever setting.
'@ Check thé reeis for warp and replace them if necessary.
Set the Tape-height Adjustors correctly {Refer to page 6).
'#Set the REC MODE switches to REC and push the REC button

Use shielded connecting cabies.
Ensure that cables aro not near transformers, generators or AC
power cords.
'¢ Check the HEADPHONE jack used and the HEADPHONE switch
'setting. (Refer to page 7)
Ensure that the PB LEVEL controls are around center click posi-
ton.
Use &-chm headphones.
'* Check the timer setting, if the TC-788-4 is connected to one.
