INSTALLATION

The controller and its connections are not waterproof so should be
installed in a dry location away from high humidity and water splashing.
A secure mounting bracket is included with the unit that can be fixed to a
suitable surface with screws or double sided sticky pads, if the later is used
the controller should be positioned in a location where it will not fall into
water if the sticky pads fail.
All pumps in the D - D Funktion range are fully submersible to a maximum
depth of 1.5m and can be installed within a sump or inside the aquarium
itself depending on the purpose the pump is being used for. The larger
models (5000, 6500, and 10000) can be mounted externally and come
with fittings included for attachment to metric solvent weld aquarium
plumbing, the pumps are not self-priming so must be installed below the
water level and be primed before switching on.
Allowing the pump to run dry or draw in air may cause damage to the
motor and impeller.
When installing the pump, the position of the outlet can be changed to face
sideways instead of upwards. To achieve this, slide the footplate towards
the back of the pump to remove it and then rotate the impeller cover anti-
clockwise to release, re-position the faceplate to the desired direction and
making sure the locating lugs match then rotate clockwise to lock in place.
Two different inlet attachments are included for use when running the
pump submerged. When running submerged, the water depth should be
enough to cover the pump body.
Standard Suction Cage – to stop large debris or aquarium inhabitants from
being drawn into the pump.
'Elephant Nose' Suction attachment – For use when operating the pump
in low water levels to avoid air being drawn from the surface or to reduce
excess bubble carry-over.
